Germany Jesus of Nazareth Blu-ray

Since Lionsgate doesn't appear interested in a U.S. blu ray release of "Jesus
of Nazareth " , I just pre-ordered the German Jesus of Nazareth Blu-ray release due out March 2nd. Has English language track.
only thing it's Region B. Good if you have a multiregion player.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Region Free Blu-ray Player, but I have been contemplating on purchasing one. They're more expensive, but that's to be expected.

I'm not sure how good this will look on Blu-ray. The DVD copy looked pretty fuzzy. Not sure if it was the transfer or the source.

Still 4 months until Easter, so I wouldn't rule out a domestic release from Lionsgate yet... but, yeah... a 4-disc special edition from Germany? I'm intrigued...

I had the old CED disc set from RCA and it was as sharp as a tack. Even the original VHS put out by magnetic video in the early '80s was better than Lionsgate DVD

That DVD release was really horrible image wise. An upgrade to Blu-ray would be welcome by me for sure

A part of me is holding out hope that Lionsgate will release it this year, especially since two other distributors have/had, plus Easter doesn't fall till April 8th. If they released The Miracle Maker last year (which is far more obscure, at least in the U.S.), then I don't see why they wouldn't want to release Jesus of Nazareth since that's one of the more popular Christ films out there.

rondanto - As soon as you get your copy, please give us a full analysis of the disc (such as any supplements that might be thrown in), and any screencaps if you can. I've been wanting this miniseries on BD ever since I switched over to the format, and if Lionsgate doesn't realease it this year, I'm willing to do whatever I can to import, even if it means just having to watch it on my laptop.

OOOhhhh.... definitely intriguing. Thankfully, my wife just scored me a Region Free Blu Player for Xmas...

As for Lionsgate, I'm not holding my breath. On a personal note, I was extremely disappointed with their recent domestic blus of Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and The Crow (if you're happy with them, that's cool. I wasn't), so that soured me to their catalog releases. If this 4-disc is any good in PQ/AQ then that's where I'll go.

what are the chances this recieved a full re-master? wonder if the aspect ratio will be 1:33 to 1 like the LOUSY dvd from Lionsgate? I agree this is the definitive movie version of the life of Christ. I've been dreaming about a blu-ray release. Let me know how it looks, fellas! God bless you all.

I do like this movie, but I have to disagree with that statement. This movie is missing several miracles such as water into wine and walking on water. If this were a 2 hour movie, I could've cut it some slack. But since this is over 6 hours, I find it very disappointing that it didn't include all of Jesus' miracles. Just sayin...

It would be wonderful if this was released on Blu in the U.S.. Nice to see other regions actually doing it. I just always felt this was an obscure series. I grew up watching it and always felt it was the best adaptation.
