I'd be interested in seeing this. I liked the Writer/Directors other film Hustle & Flow.

I don't know what movie reviewer watched, but this is absolute crap and a disgrace for everyone involved in the original movie (and especially Chris Penn).

Is Ms. Hough extremely hot in this film?

While there is plenty of eye-candy in this film and some good musical / dancing....nothing seemed fresh. 90% of the script was directly lifted from the original, WORD-FOR-WORD.
I have seen several remakes add some fresh new twists for a new audience, but this one seemed like watching a high-school production of the original, and it just didn't compair to me.

O.K, Comparing this to the original...I just finished watching and here's my $0.02
1.)"Ren".....Kenny Wormald < Kevin Bacon 2.)"Ariel"....Julianne Hough > Lori Singer...(Hough was much sexier + better actress) 3,)"Rev. Shaw Moore".....Dennis Quaid < John Lithgow 4.)"Willard".....Miles Teller <> Chris Penn 5.)"Rusty"......Ziah Colon < Sarah Jessica Parker 6.)"Vi Moore"...... Andie MacDowell < Dianne Wiest Now, the music....1984 > 2011 (Sorry Jana Kramer, I still love you!) The dance choreography/scenes......1984 < 2011 (Bacon's solo scene in the warehouse was much better though) The story/plot........2011 > 1984 (pretty much the same exact 1984 storyline, but with added drama scenes and more serious sequences) It wasn't bad, but I'm not running out to purchase it. The original had better acting, actors/actresses, music, but weak on story. I would have preferred that the 1984 movie had this screen write. This movie definitely have better eye candy, and Hough was prettier & sexier as Ariel. The dance scenes where well done. Bottom line..........1984 > 2011.... |
