Their work is definitely appreciated.

If everything remains on schedule, how does LoA on Blu-ray (and in 4K theaters) ‘this summer’ sound?

Would that be too early for folks? You know, what with summer vacations and such, going to the beach, the mountains…not being near your home theater.

Or, perhaps it would be better to postpone until the winter when everyone is nice and comfy indoors?

This title can't come soon enough for me.
Summer would be fine, thank you very much!
In fact, tomorrow would work too.

The name just inspires confidence for some reason. I just know it's all gonna be okay.

I always thought that SONY ‘Colorworks’ also had a reassuring ring to it too .

I met Grover once, briefly, at a film festival. He seemed like a very nice man. Of course, that doesn't mean that even the most enthusiastic supporters of film restoration don't occasionally run into certain limitations, such as budget, or the film elements available, or how marketable certain titles might be.

But overall I think my impression is the business could use a few more guys like Grover.

With the way the price of gasoline is going, I think alot of folks will be passing on driving very far this summer.

And I live in southern Arizona, where 110 degrees does not encourage alot of frolicking outside. 'This summer' sounds just fine.

I had the DVD in my collection for years, but only got around to seeing it last year. It was amazing. The whole time I was just thinking about how aw dropping it would look on Blu. This would no doubt be my most anticipated blu of the year, assuming it truly gets released this year. It would be a dream to see it in theatres too, so hopefully that happens as well.

Summer! Sooner rather than later. I plan to take my teenage son...A new generation can be introduced to this classic.

Penton, since I always give SPHE the benefit of the doubt as they've earned my trust with their stellar releases...I'm good for either timeframe!

When I wear a nice Navy blazer or suit and dress shirt (no tie), I’ve been accused of that on more than one occasion…http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread....an#post5032472

but after the ‘Guns’ definitive revelation, sorry, unless it’s a very special circumstance/release, I plan on no longer providing that sort of release information. The marketing and publicity folks should be allowed to freely toot their own horn.

P.S.
Come to think of it, I believe the first Insider 'release' info I ever posted to folks was actually on the AVS forum, back in August of ’06 hinting that Click (from Happy Madison Productions, on the Sony lot) would be the very first Blu-ray BD50 title to be released….two months prior to the official announcement. Man, it certainly has been a long and winding road since then. I feel like an old forum dog.

Summer is fine as long as it's not released in the same week theatrically as any other blockbusters (and even though it would appeal to a different demographic).

And the same applies to Winter - it shouldn't be released in the same week as any other big Christmas movies.

The only thing is that this has been revived so many times theatrically, it might have trouble finding a theatrical audience again. I've seen this at least twice at the Ziegfeld and once at the Hollywood Dome in revival (70mm in those instances).

For the home market, I'm not sure it makes any difference when it's released. It's not like it has to be seen in the week that it's released. You probably wouldn't want to release it in the same week as an Indiana Jones boxed set or anything like that, but IMO old films like this have a "long tail".
loose="not tight", lose="can't find it, doesn't have anymore" or the opposite of "win".
their="belongs to", there="place", they're="they are", there's = "there is"
it's="it is", for everything else use "its"
then="after", than="compared with"
"a lot" not "alot"

Perfect. I prefer to watch LOA when it's hot outside

Dub, actually it is not ‘up in the air’. Although, they haven’t been produced yet, for the Big screen folks, new 70mm. prints ultimately will be struck and some are intended to be made available for eventual exhibition.

Great news!

Any guesses on the dates for these special theatrical showings of Lawrence of Arabia?

Thanks.

Just an educated guess - I would imagine Sony would love to have this new restoration showcased in one of the fall's film festivals. Maybe Telluride, NYC or Toronto?

After that, a limited 70mm in select cities (probably the top 10 markets in North America), and 35mm/DCP for smaller markets, possibly.

Thanks. Must be looking *really* good. ++++

Since I live in Louisville, definitely keep in mind that people smaller cities would like to see Lawrence on the big screen too.

So we'll probably see a Taxi Driver-like release. Which means my market won't get it the first time around but it'll make a stop at the Cinemathque shortly after
What film do you think should be on Criterion blu-ray?
