Anyone have a picture of how these HK releases look side by side on a shelf?

I can take a picture when I get home from work, but I am missing two of them since I purchased the US Nausica and the UK Ponyo.

Also, added a link on the first page to Tales from Earthsea to match the other links.

Can't wait for Howl's Moving Castle on February 21st, as I can't afford the Japanese release.

Excited to finally get my hands on this movie on Blu-ray!

Can anyone confirm that the HK version of Laputa is identical to the JPN? According to the disc stats the encodes are the same. Does it translate in real time? So far, the HK versions of Ghibli's films have not equaled the JPN. It would be nice if they would in PQ/AQ so we could have quality options.

What do you mean "if it translate in real time?"

They are proper subtitles and are in proper English, so you don't need to worry about any Engrish or dub-titles.

Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of AnyDVD HD so I am unable to take readings of the disc specs, but I'm sure they are very close to Japanese ones, just missing a few docs and stuff.

I just found this thread, very nice! I currently own Arrietty, Laputa Castle in the Sky, & Whisper of the Heart HK Blu-rays and am very happy with all 3 releases. Will be picking up Howl's Moving Castle this month!

yeah, it's strange. I can't find any other info than that listing. DDDhouse never sells bootlegs too.

Until I saw "3D" in the description a couple of times, I thought the 3D was just a watermark for the image representing the 3 D's of DDDhouse.

What I mean is the PQ/AQ identical to the JPN. I saw that the disc specs have identical bit rates and I'm wondering if anyone has seen both to verify? I ask because this would be the first blu ray (disc specs) where it appears the HK and JP could be identical. With Ponyo and Nau, the JPN version had the advantage in PQ.

Can you post the bitrate specs that show they're identical? I might get some of the HK releases myself.

Interesting. Although, their Nausicaa BD is a separate encode. I wonder if they started porting over the JP BDs from Laputa onward or if that was just a one-off thing? It's rather common for HK distributors to port over BDs from other regions with changes in extras/audio tracks fwiw.

Also can anyone post a picture of the subtitles, any line is fine. I just want to see the font/outline/padding.

Taken from: Whisper of the Heart. Note, this image was taken with my cellphone camera, and is no way a proper representation of the image quality

With the subtitles, I have noticed that any letter that has a tail (q, y, p, g, j) seem to be centered vertically just a bit (compare the g to the rest of the other letters). That seems to be the same across all the HK titles. Eventually, you forget that it is even there.
