Thanks in advance!
I believe D-Nice said that with this years model it is not necessary to run the break-in slides unless you plan to use his settings. I believe one of the reasons you run the break-in slides is because of the gray scale shifting. There are settings to use with the break-in slides and without. The break-in slides dont hurt anything.

Just ordered my 65ST50

Upgrading my 42G10. It has been rock solid for 3 years and I still love it. Just can't wait to see the difference in size and picture quality...

You need to sign up there for free I believe before you can access the forums.

If Im not mistaken, D-Nice does not require you to get into the service menu for Panasonics 2012 models. I finished the prep slides and applied D-Nie's settings and my picture looks great.

I thought I read a review that the ST's do not have a swivel base? I just stopped at Sears and they had one on a swivel base. I don't care as I will be mounting, but worth mentioning...

well big day for me--about to retire my Kuro 5080 to my bedroom.
I just ordered a 55" VT50 and it will be here on Thursday.
I've been rockin' the Kuro as my main tv since 2007 I think, but finally Panny has reached a point I was happy to upgrade to.
the fact that you can get the VT50 for the same price I paid for the Kuro back then is just incredible imo.
The 5080 has been wonderful, and the 768p wasn't a big detriment back in 2007, but these newer 1080p Panny's definitely offer a sharper picture overall, and, of course, the black levels are finally comparable to the groundbreaking Kuros
Anyway, beyond excited as you can imagine!!!

Great news! I received my 55" VT50 from Amazon last Tuesday and ran the D-Nice panel prep slides for 100 hours. I'm now using THX Cinema awaiting his custom settings and this thing is amazing! Watched Tangled 3D Saturday night and Sherlock Holmes Sunday night and the PQ was awesome. You'll enjoy it!

I'm assuming the break-in disc that I have used for the last few years--which was a file I got from a D-nice Kuro AVS thread back in 2007-- will be fine for the break-in period.
I am a strong believer in doing a "proper" break-in and though
I've heard the arguments for and against, but I feel a lot better doing it than not, even though it is kind of a pain.

After much debate and research, I pulled the trigger on a P60ST50. Still a little concerned about IR since I watch a lot of scope movies and non-fullscreen content, but I plan to be careful, and I don't game. The picture quality appears to be superb and the price is too good to pass up! Looking forward to some of my faves played on this screen-a good update from 32 inch Samsung LCD I hope

IR will happen but it's only temporary. However burn in won't as long as you don't ridiculously abuse your set.

I'm prepared for it, and I don't plan on abusing it. However, the wait for it to get shipped here is excruciating.

Not sure if this is the correct thread to ask this...(if not, Mod please move to correct one)

Currently have 55GT30 that was prep with D-Nice slides and has custom settings from JW @ HDJ.com.

Due to loud buzzing, Panasonic is replacing it with the 55GT50 (decided to replace then to repair)...expecting delivery this coming Monday.

Should I proceed with the 100hrs prep slides even if D-Nice has not yet calibrated a GT50?
Not sure if it would be beneficial due to the fact that I might not use his settings or could changed them sometimes down the road, such as with my 55GT30.

Another question...is there anyone who has settings for the GT50 and would like to share them?

Also, selling my 4 pairs of 3D glasses...here is my post:
http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=201424

Thanks!

Default Uh-Oh

I recently got a 55st50 plasma

Right away, I lowered the contrast and brightness on the custom settings.
I had it set up with a friends break-in DVD and was running it the dvd on repeat.

I later got lead to the D-nice break-in procedure with his new slides. I downloaded them, and did the break in via USB instead of the DVD.

Today I checked the picture settings while the set was getting broken in via USB and realized the picture settings for the "USB" were not "Custom" like I set for "HDMI" but some other one that had the contrast and brightness "100." I immediately switched the picture to custom and lowered the brightness and contrast.

Did I just screwed my new tv? (i hope not) or should it be okay because I'm just running the slides?

Any help or info would be appreciated.
