Why should they? This is A Trip to the Moon release, not Melies Collection vol. something.

Because (as demonstrated in this thread), some consumers won't pay $30 for three shorts and a documentary. Of course, they have the choice whether to buy it or not but looking on, it doesn't seem good value for money. The French release looks much more appealing.

Doesn't seem like that's the best result, for consumers or Flicker Alley. |

Perhaps the next thing we can expect is a bluray with all of the "making of" supplements and commentary but without any films on it.
It's patently absurd to expect anyone to spend hard earned money on a bluray with only 16 minutes of film on it. Flicker Alley has plenty of material to make a bang up bluray with. There's no reason to milk their customers like this. |

It will but whether they're on the Blu-Ray and in HD isn't specified.

Is the French release even happening? Blu-ray.com is the only site that's reporting it and the product image displayed here is actually George Melies DVD set released by Studio Canal in November.

Serge Bromberg's 6 disk French "Saved From The Flames" DVDs are pricey, but you get two solid hours worth of brilliantly restored films on each one, including many hand tinted trickfilms like From the Earth to the Moon. I've been screening these DVDs on my projection system and they look phenominal. Flicker Alley released a 3 disk set that I haven't seen yet, but I bet either of these are a much better value than this bluray and have equally important films.

Now it's looking like a better deal. The other two shorts will be in HD, confirmed to me by Flicker Alley on twitter.

I'd purchase this release just for the interview with AIR. They are my favorite group, and am really looking forward to their new album in early February which coincides with the work the did for the soundtrack of this newly restored film.
