This is why I don't order anything with large glass surfaces online. I buy in-store and have local delivery companies involved with the handling of my unit. Have you seen some of the Youtube videos of how UPS and Fedex handle their parcels???

Right now I'm doing break in slides.

3-4 weeks from now I will make a HT gallery.

There are exceptions to everything, and that's what these are. The vast majority of deliveries arrive just fine. If they didn't, these companies would never be able to stay in business.

I agree. I purchased my last plasma online from Value Electronics, and it arrived like it was treated with kid gloves. Also, purchased numerous other electronics from other online companies and only once did I have a minor issue.
Think about how many tv's are shipped across country each week.
I feel bad for someone who has a bad experience, but it doesn't happen very often or as you say, companies would go out of business.

Sorry to use this thread, but it is related. So, tomorrow I pick up my 50ST30 from Best Buy. Would it be ok to place it over a heater vent to warm up? This seems like a quick way to warm it to room temperature.

I wouldn`t use anything to "heat up" the TV. The quicker it heats up, the more moisture can condensate inside the tv. I would keep it inside the box for several hours at least to let it warm up to room temperature at it`s own pace (no worries of condensating moisture that way). Of course the above is important in very low temperatures.
