Uh, think Mary Poppins and Lilo are too BIG to be released during non-Diamond seasons.
![]() (Well, maybe Lilo; as far as Disney's concerned, it's still stuck in the '95-'05 "ghetto".) With this and Fox/Hound, they're experimenting with working from the bottom up and doing respectable releases of "micro" titles from their forgotten 70's/80's titles that were rescued on video, eg. Robin Hood. After F&H2 showed them that they could resurrect icky old Ron Miller 70's movies by making new vidquels that parents would buy at Target anyway--to get kids identifying the characters--they were originally all set to make "Aristocats 2: the Cruise Ship Caper" to sell the first movie, but that was one of the last casualties of John Lasseter's Toon Studios crackdown. Here, they're trying to reproduce the marketing strategy of FH1-2, by selling "Aristocats 1 + 2, if we had gotten to make it". Last edited by EricJ; 01-18-2012 at 06:21 PM. |

There's a thread about this here and since this will be a worldwide release, is there really a reason to justify 2 threads for the same topic?

We only have one possible date for Aladdin and that for Spain in October. A cast member for what?

I will gladly pass on the "terrible" animated years of Disney, from Lady and the Tramp to the Fox&Hound, going through the 101 dalmatians and The Aristocats.
The one (shining) exception being The Rescuers for me, Sword in the Stone to a lower extent. Bring us Tarzan, Aladdin and Hercules already... yeesh (can't say I care all that much for Mulan and Pocahontas, but they were imo still better than the previously mentioned "gems"). PS: I realize that Sleeping Beauty -which I actually consider a classic- has been made in between, but this is just how I feel about these movies hehe)
Most awaited:
The Hobbit - 12/14/12, 12/13/13 & 7/18/14 Oz The Great and Powerful - March 8th 2013 Elysium - August 9th 2013 Pacific Rim - Juy 12th 2013 Last edited by Elandyll; 01-18-2012 at 07:48 PM. |

But I must stress, I have no date, and it's simply nothing more than what was relayed to me buy a merch manager in January. Last edited by jchampl; 01-18-2012 at 07:34 PM. |

I would love to think of both of them as Diamond Quality, but Diamond is pre-set, and neither is included. The sad thing is that Mary Poppins was re-released during the BD era, but on DVD only. I wasn't about to upgrade my old non-anamorphic DVD just for an anamorphic DVD when I'd since moved on to blu-ray. The treatment of the 95-05 catalog seems a lot of baby out with the bathwater. The output was more miss than hit, so the gems get overlooked. I personally love: Lilo & Stitch Mulan Fantasia 2000 Brother Bear and to a lesser extent... Atlantis |

Well I loved the trailer so I will get it and flip coupon #2 to my sister so she can get it for my goddaughter. Wonder when we're going to get another collectible case for a Disney movie.
Cowboys fan cautiously hoping for the best
