Why are the Blu-Ray / DVD combo packs in DVD Packaging more expensive?

I think it's just a way of promoting a new standard (in this case, Blu-ray packaging). They are doing something similar with their 3D editions, they give away coupons and you end up getting the more expensive edition cheaper than the standard one.

Wow, I can't believe how quiet this thread has been, especially since the releases are rapidly approaching. I'll be picking up The Tigger Movie this tuesday.

I know my wallet is not looking forward to the 21st. Not only is it the day before I start college, but I have to buy 6 movies that day (4 that are Disney). I had to hold off on both the Criterion sale and BB's upgrade and save program.

That's because we haven't received any new news regarding upcoming titles (Brother Bear, Atlantis) and the 2013 speculation has also subsided. I'm expecting this thread will come alive again when the reviews for the August titles are up.

I'm starting my new semester in Aug. 20 and I'm picking 5 titles this month Pocahontas, The Rescuers/The Rescuers Down Under and The Aristocats from Disney and Jaws and The Hunger Games from other companies.

EDIT: I forgot about Boardwalk Empire S2! I'll be picking that one up if the price is 34.99 like the other HBO titles have been upon release.
Pre-Ordered: Howl's Moving Castle, The Emperor's New Groove, Lilo & Stitch, The Little Mermaid, Iron Man 3, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Sword in the Stone, From Up on Poppy Hill, The Muppet Movie, Robin Hood.

I start Aug 20. Picking up all of those titles too! But I am also getting the tigger movie. ( I can't believe I have to sing the tigger song to get the right spelling :P)

I feel terrible for my card. But it's good that I got most at the cheapest time except for Jaws, I still didn't order it.

I think Pocahontas has the best Score disney has ever had. It is amazing, truly a masterpiece. Can't wait to hear it in surround sound.

I don't know if is the very best (I have to think about that) but without a doubt is one of the best. Can't wait to hear it too!

I think I'm the only one who doesn't think much of the Beauty and the Beast score. I found it average.

Pocahontas has that thing in it, that makes me close my eyes, sit back and just enjoy the music. Some scenes building up tense and some others have explosions (Like the very end when she runs up the hill with the chorus in the end.)

FINALLY. Hunchback is in desperate need for a new transfer, Hercules does to, I've just never been a fan. Now if we get the Goofy Movies we'll have all of the Gold Collection DVD's upgraded. I'll definitely be getting Hunchback. It'd be great if we got it this year, but I'm guessing we'll have to wait until spring.

I think it's stupid that the Blu-Ray / DVD combo packs in DVD packaging are $5 more expensive.

I have Bambi, Beauty And The Beast, Lady And The Tramp, Lion King, Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Snow White in the DVD packaging, so I feel obligated to get these new five, on top of Bambi 2, Beauty And The Beast 2, Dumbo, Fox & The Hound, Lion King 1.5, and Lion King 2 in DVD packaging.

Where is everyone planning on buying The Tigger Movie from?

I have the Pocahontas, Rescuers, Aristocats coming to me from DMC but the Tigger Movie isn't available from them.

I won't be buying that one, but some people got it when amazon had a coupon but its over. DMR should issue a coupon for it, so just wait for the ads to come and look for the best deal w/ the coupon.

I'm not so sure Tigger will score a DMR coupon. They've been getting very stingy with coupons lately (unfortunately).

Normally, if Amazon gets one, DMR gets one, but you never know with disney.
