Default Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Skynet Edition) problem. Help!!!

I just bought this BD and played on my BD player. At first it said that "Skynet was unable to connect this location to internet. Please check your network settings and click retry." I clicked cancel. And then it showed the message "Skynet has detected a blu-ray player that is not connected internet and will run with full animated menu. To utilize optimal performance and other features please use blu-ray player connected to internet." And then it took me to menu where I chose which version to play and it started playing the movie.

I know my player is not connected to internet and I don't want it to be. So my question is this normal for this blu-ray or should I send it back to amazon?

P.S. I only care about the movie. I don't watch special features at all.

Also on another note, the first time I played this disc it was very slow and it almost seemed like my player froze. I could not stop, so I powered it off. But now it is working just fine.

Skynet is the name of the Corporation in T2 (which you know by now), so the blu-ray menu is trying to make it look like your on a computer with all of the technical lingo

Basically it's saying "We're checking if your player is connected to the internet, nope, doesn't look like it is. However we do recommend connecting to benefit from additional special features"

No internet = no problem, perfectly normal

I'm connected (with my PS3) and it plays a little animation of a GPS program closing in on Toronto on a map, it's pretty cool. My favourite blu-ray menu design to date.

I actually contacted amazon earlier today and they even gave me a return shipping lable and everything. I just played the movie again before packing and it worked fine. So I called amazon and told them that I would like to hold on to it because it is working fine now. So he said just ignore the return authorization if you're okay with the item.

So what exactly makes you think there is something wrong with it again?

You'd better stay away from Fight Club as well then...

At least you can actually watch the movie.

I can only get to that first menu about not being able to connect to Skynet and either Retry or Cancel. I click Cancel and it just hangs.

I own The Expendable (which I believe is also a Lionsgate title) and that one was made after T2 and loads and plays just fine on my player. It just has to be the way that the disc was authored that is causing me problems.
It only cost me $5, so I'll keep it and when I get another player I'll try and watch it again.

But I think this may have turned me off to Lionsgate titles for now.+

Guys, Lionsgate releases had a lot of weird menu issues, especially the T2 disc. I would recommend attempting this: when it gets to the Skynet thing, click cancel, and immediately after, click top menu or pop menu (try both) to force it to the main menu. Seems to work for me.

Well the first time I popped it into my player and clicked cancel. It took me to menu and everything was lagging and my player froze. So I had to turn the power off to make it stop. Then I turned my player on and immediately ejected the disc. So I thought it was the disc problem. But the second time later that night I tried again and everything seemed to be working fine. I guess I probably had some dust on the disc or something before.

It's probably been almost a year since I watched my copy, all I know is, this movie took probably 2-3 minutes to finally load the menu, longest load time I've ever had on one of my movies. BOO!
"Does the Blu-ray version of '.......' look better than it's DVD version?"

I'm so sick of this question. 99% of Blu-rays look better than their DVD counterpart. Period.

Yeah, my player's only about 2 years old, and all my movies load in about 30 seconds or less, except this one. That stupid Cyberdyne logo stays on-screen for a long time by comparison.

I got the same "Skynet was unable to connect this location to internet. Please check your network settings and click retry" message on my Insignia, then when I clicked "cancel" -- nothing, followed by my player freezing up. When I tried the disc on another machine, Sony360, it wouldn't recognize the disc at all and just flashed a "Cannot operate this disc" message.
Any suggestions?

I know Lionsgate seem to have a lot of issues with menus but I don't think this is solely a Lionsgate thing. The UK release from Optimum/StudioCanal is exactly the same and I think its partly due to the sheer amount of material that's on the disc that results in really sluggish load times. They crammed alot of stuff onto just one BD-50 and I think that's a big part of the problem here.

I would love to know what sort of machines have been able to play this disc without problems. I've now tried it on three different players with zero success. Hope it's not dependent on being hooked up to the internet, because I'm not and would prefer to stay that way.

Boots up on both of my BD PC drives in about 30 seconds. It does take about a minute with my LG BH200.

Just out of curiosity, did you not recognize the "skynet" reference? From your post it sounds like you didn't, and I thought almost everyone did, but if you hadn't seen any of the terminators you probably wouldn't. I'm not being critical so I hope I don't sound that way... I'm just wondering if you didn't recognize the skynet reference.

Both my Samsung and Vizio BD players play this disc. Both are wi-fi and I haven't experience any issues that others have in the past(knock on wood). There's another thread around here where I actually posted pictures of what menu's came up. So not sure why yours isn't working
Do you really have something to say or are you just in love with the sound of your keyboard?
