This looks good!

I have the VHS and DVD and this is super tight.

I just finished watching the BD. Very nice for a 42 yr old film.

It's beyond "very nice" - it left "very nice" at the starting gate. It is, in fact, a perfect transfer - perfect color, perfect contrast, and looking exactly as it should.

Default Lossless 5.1??

I just bought the "Love Story" Blu-ray by mail (from Blowitoutahere.com); I like the soundtrack a lot, and I was looking forward to the lossless 5.1 remix. But my Blu-ray case only says "English Mono Dolby Digital" (plus French and Portuguese). What gives? My case looks the same as that published here and at Amazon--but I don't even want to open it if by chance there were two releases (which seems unlikely!) and I got one with only a mono track. Do others who bought this item have a case that actually states that this is a lossless 5.1 mix?

I thought it was Mono (stated on the jacket) as well, but it registered on my receiver as 5.1 or something else. It was a surprise to me. It sounded nothin like any of my other mono BDs.

It appears this is a packaging error by Paramount because the review states there is DTS track as well as Mono. Hopefully some fellow members who have purchased the disc can comment on the audio..

Yes a very nicely done stereo track, even thought the film, of course, was originally mono.

blown away by how incredible his bd looks.
the overall clarity is just stunning, with a gorgeous consistent image throughout.
wow!
can't wait for more Paramount classic releases like this one.
except for the obviously unrestored My Fair Lady they have released some great looking bds lately.

Very nice transfer indeed, but unfortunately this Blu-ray version is overcropped compared to the DVD version I have. The overall look of the Blu-ray colors is also a little on the red side compared to the DVD.

I've attached screenshots from both versions, notice that the DVD is upscaled in the player for better comparison. In other scenes the cropping is much worse, than this example.

Just watched this movie for the first time in at least 20 years. I liked it even more than I remembered liking it the last time (which is a lot). I thought the picture looked beautiful! Crisp! Good color!

I'm surprised this film hasn't drawn more attention.
So many blurays, so little time.
