Default Game of Thrones Season 1 & 2 Re-release (April 22, 2014)

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Game-o...Blu-ray/99063/

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Game-o...Blu-ray/99062/

Anyone know any info on this? Is it just a re-release of the standard version or is it a limited edition set? Since it's at the $80 price point it seems like it could be special.

That's just the retail price. Every standard season release for Game of Thrones has had the same $79.98 retail price on Blu-ray. I doubt this is anything more than a re-release of the existing sets (if it really ends up being anything at all).

Pointless re-release is pointless? I really don't get why they are doing this.

Then I will buy all 3 seasons again. The current packaging is horrendous crap that crinks, scratches, scrapes and rips just when you look at it.

I wouldn't expect that to happen. Not very HBO-like to quit digipak altogether

So will the digipak version be for the first few pressings, then they switch to amaray for the rest of the run? I guess that will make the digipak version the limited edition packaging.

I wonder if they'll have his successor the same way on a future edition.

Good thing I prefer Content of just packaging.
I get to trade in my DigiPaks but keep the store exclusive Disks and now have an easier to open, disk better accessible package.
Looking for the following:
- Game of Thrones: Season 1: HBO Shop Bonus Disk
- DigiBooks of the following: Cinderella & Snow and White: The Seven Dwarfs
- Star Wars: A Musical Journey Bonus DVD

No one said this is what is actually happening. I don't see them doing regular amaray releases, that's not what HBO does. These re-releases are most likely either the same exact release or non-combo pack releases.

They are very likely the exact same sets as before. My guess is they could be versions without DVD copies, as HBO is releasing True Blood Season 6 and possibly True Detective Season 1 with just Blu-ray + Digital Copies.

I think everyone in this thread is freaking out over nothing. The person who said these were amaray releases was just speculating as there is no way he would know unless he is involved in the production of these sets.
