Quote:
Magnolia Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on Blu-ray Ruairi Robinson's feature film directorial debut The Last Days On Mars (2013), starring starring Liev Schreiber, Olivia Williams, Romola Garai, and Elias Koteas. The release will be available for purchase on March 4th.

Last year, The Last Days on Mars was screened in the Directors' Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival.

Official synopsis: As their last day on Mars draws to a close, the astronaut crew is on the verge of a major breakthrough – collected rock specimens reveal microscopic evidence of life. Meanwhile, communication is underway with AURORA, the approaching spacecraft that will relieve the crew of their operations. In their last hours on the planet, two astronauts go back to SITE 9, a cavernous valley on the surface of Mars, to collect further evidence of their discovery. But a routine excavation turns deadly when one of them falls to his death and his body taken host and re-animated by the very life form they sought to discover.

I pre-ordered this at Best-buy for $17.99. Amazon has it for $24.64, but I'm sure will match it shortly.

I heard this movie started off okay, however quickly turned for the worse and ended terribly. I like the sci-fi style and will pick this up, but I don't have rally high hopes.

I feel exactly the same way. Just can't resist films like this. My collection is littered with them.

Same here. Movies like this which potentially could be a bad movie are simply saved by the atmosphere and general idea. Sort of a guilty little pleasure movie. Really looking forward to seeing it on Blu-ray.

Amazon just dropped their price to $14.96! Looks like I'll pre-order on Amazon now. I'm sure Best Buy will now price match Amazon.

Sweet! I'll keep my preorder. I was second guessing myself as I hadn't heard anything good about it from anyone. Sci-Fi's are my favorite genre, especially the indie low budget ones.

Most SyFy Originals are more entertaining than this. It's really woeful.

I enjoyed this one. It wasn't nearly as bad as some are claiming here. The effects were very well done and the acting was competent. It wasn't the most original story but it wasn't boring, and I'm glad I saw it.

I actually agree with you. It's a lot worse than ANY SyFy original I've ever seen. But by no means have I seen them all.

I thought the set design was excellent. Everything looked very believable. It's nice to see the white interiors are white on the blu-ray, and not teal.

You must be kidding, right?

Yes, the plot is derivative of many other films. It's still a pretty-good sci-fi thriller. It has competent acting, great effects and fantastic sets - three things SyFy channel movies almost never have.
