Alliance will be releasing The Yards on a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack on February 21, 2012. Hopefully someone up north can comment if this is just the Echo Bridge release repackaged.

Interesting... Alliance is also releasing Dead Man as well. Both being US Echo Bridge titles, I wonder if they managed to secure rights to the US disc content. Honestly, I was hoping not. Alliance seemed to notice that those Echo Bridge/Miramax titles were just poor all around. So I hope these have much different transfers than the US releases had.

Well I'm not prepared to drop $15 on a gamble with Alliance, iNet does have a back cover scan up now. Predictably it lists 1.78:1. Looks like the French disc still wins (unless Alliance has suddenly gone back to making case typos).

The Yards is currently on sale right now at Future Shop for $12.99CDN... I went through my copy to see what the deal was on specs etc. The disc is unfortunately identical to the USA Echo Bridge disc. So, poor disc, yes. But at least this one isn't entirely Alliance's fault! Haha In fact, since this is the combo release that has a DVD copy, the DVD copy is the Collector's Series disc with all the extras that SHOULD HAVE been on the blu-ray disc.

Here are the extras, as they appear on the Director's Cut DVD copy included inside the combo pack:
-Audio Commentary with James Gray & Steven Soderbergh
-Roundtable Discussion (30:47)
-Deleted Scenes [w/ or w/o director commentary] (6:28)
-Visualizing The Yards (12:01)
-Behind the Scenes Featurette (12:02)
-Original Concept Art [33 stills]
-Trailer (2:15)

The Blu-ray has a runtime of 1:53:24 & aspect ratio of 1.78:1(cropped), whereas the DVD (Dir. Cut) has a runtime of 1:54:13 & is in the original aspect ratio of 2.39:1... Not sure if the set has both cuts of the film...
