(Just a side question, why is it Paramount releasing a DreamWorks title anyway?)
Paramount had a partnership with DreamWorks when this film was initially released. Since then DreamWorks has made a new partnership with Buena Vista and new films will be distributed through them, but their existing films from their Paramount days remain with Paramount as their distributor.

Dreamworks sold off the controlling interests in their older productions to a couple of investors, and Viacom which is the parent company of Paramount bought the interests in 2010. Viacom therefore now controls the rights to all Dreamworks titles released up till september 2005, among them 'The Ring'.
Most wanted blu-ray upgrades: Seconds, Suspiria (remaster), Danza macabra, L'orribile segreto del Dr. Hichcock, Nosferatu (1979), Il boia scarlatto, La frusta e il corpo, Sei donne per l'assassino, Dracula (1979), The Haunting (1963), Jungfrukällan, L'avventura, Spoorloos, Les yeux sans visage, Prince of Darkness, The Changeling (1980), Ringu, Ju-on, Psycho II, Psycho III, The Maze (1953, 3-D)

Will this be like the other Paramont titles released exclusively at Best Buy, ala Naked Gun, Airplane, Anchorman Deluxe Edition, ect... ?

More than likely. Hopefully this bodes well for a (lenticular) slip.
desperately seeking MINT U.S. slips:
The Blind Side (original) - I Am Number Four (single disc, blue border) - Limitless - Sex and the City: The Movie

Please PM me if you have any of these available for purchase.

I think that the same persons that decided this was an exclusive were deciding on whether or not use a lenticular cover like the DVD had. I don't think they wanted it a limited edition, because it was a big title for the Studio. I like the Region 2 DVD cover, and I wished that they would have used that for the SE DVD instead of the lenticular one. I don't feel that it fits with the tone.

Not strictly accurate. This movie was initially distributed in theatres and on home video by Universal; the subsequent home video arrangement with Paramount must have allowed for the Dreamworks titles over the last several years (e.g. WAR OF THE WORLDS, MINORITY REPORT) to be moved from Universal's hands to Paramount's.

I couldn't have said it better myself lol.
And a big YES to that lenticular slipcover!! I really hope they do it! (They did it for Airplane, I mean... There's a bigger crowd awaiting The Ring than there was for Airplane.

Yeah, as it was already mentioned--Paramount now owns the DreamWorks library up until 9/05. That's why we've seen Paramount put out titles like The Peacemaker, Minority Report, Anchorman, Collateral, and The Island on blu-ray. Luckily, they also control The Ring Two, so it remains a possibility that it will get a BD release. (Hopefully, they also get around to The Time Machine and Red Eye. )

Edit: Oh yeah, and you just know Paramount is going to change the cover art, most likely to something heinously photoshopped.

All the info is preliminary, there's no actual info save for it being released, though the same company has released several titles with English subs, but either way I can just add subs from a file via PC.

YES!!! I can't wait to hear a new HD Audio Track for this film. I seriously wish Hans Zimmer would do more horror films - his music here is simply genius. + This movie is genuinely creepy without completely relying on jump scares. Can't wait.

I am embarrassed to admit, but I look to see if What Lies Beneath is available (or announced) almost weekly. I freaking love this film.

I might have to ask my mate who lives in Canada to pick this up and sent it over the river for me then if its an in-store exclusive. Do Canada have Best Buy's?
