I've heard on a 120Hz display using active shutter glasses you're not actually getting 24p playback because with the glasses on your actually getting 60Hz each eye so all 24p content is having 3:2 pulldown processing is this correct?

That is correct on many sets to the best of my knowledge. Happens with other sets too, the VT-series (2010/2011) plasma shows 3D content at 60Hz/eye. There is no guarantee regardless of frame rate you're avoiding 3:2 pulldown, proper research is required.
