Anatomy of a Murder Blu-ray In the bluray.com review of "Anatomy of a Murder", the reviewer notes that the "colors are so rich and lush". I hope not...it's a black and white film.

Black and white aren't colors?

Been awhile since I studied art, but I believe that while white appears to be the absence of color it contains all the colors of the spectrum; conversely, black is the reverse on both counts. As to gray, my grandparents would refer to it in Yiddish as "schmutz."
Looking forward to this disc... someday. Samsung C630 55" LCD TV | Oppo 93 Blu-Ray Player

I also noticed the odd "colors are so rich and lush" line in the review. While technically white is "colors", black the absence of color, and grey gradations between the two, in the film world (which is what they are reviewing), "black and white" films and "color" films are two very different and distinct things. So yes, DetroitSportsFan, you win on a technicality. But everyone else wins based on widespread, socially accepted terminology.

I watched this flick via Netflix a little while ago. It starts great but the payoff/ending was a little meh. Worth a watch, but I cant see buying it.
If you havent seen it, give it a shot - Jimmy Stewart is really good as usual. Its just a little light on tension/story arc. IMO.

I love courtroom dramas as a rule but I found this one un-watchable for me personally.
I appreciate that there are people who love jazz music and I am sure as far as jazz is concerned that the music is good. Personally however I found the jazz music soundtrack so distracting that I could not watch more than the first five minutes. Usually I can overlook this type of taste in movie soundtracks but in this particular case it was impossible to overlook it.

A $16.99 Criterion new release is always worth buying.
When my dad drops this off later in the week, I think I might do a double feature with this and 12 Angry Men; a triple feature possibly with To Kill a Mockingbird as the main feature.

Buying cheap Criterions because they're cheap and Criterions is a bit silly, especially if you don't enjoy the movie all that much. |

Well, a lot of people do that, they buy Criterions only when they're cheap, regardless as to whether or not they actually enjoy the film.
s2mikey doesn't like the film that much, so why should he buy it at 16.99, if he didn't like it that much. I've never understood the concept of cheaper = better film. You would think that the cheaper price on a film, and the quicker it gets there, would reflect the quality of the film. |

I actually 2nd the cheap criterion is always worth buying, since if you don't like it 9 times out of 10 you can always get your money back for the cheap criterion when you sell it again
Like i know when I get my anatomy of a murder and world on a wire tomorrow for 16.99 each, i know if i don't like them and put them up for 16.99 each or maybe a little more due to what amazon takes in commission, they will sell pretty fast. |

Now, I wouldn't buy a move I already KNEW I didn't like just because it's cheap. That's a different story |

I was responding in part to the fact that one poster said they wouldn't buy it because they didn't enjoy it, and another poster told them that it was cheap, which somehow would make the film more enjoyable. |
