There's been a lot of talk about it on the Twilight Time thread, but this lovely movie deserves a thread of its own.

Very cool! Thanks for posting it, I didn't realize Twilight Time had access to better-known titles like this. I'll definitely be grabbing a copy.

anyone interested in getting older classics on bd would do well to start paying a lot of attention to TT because they are going to be releasing tons of top tier classic titles as their catalog expands imo.
They already have The Big Heat on the way and I expect them to become the major classic bd label within the next 2 years.

I'm still stunned that TT got Journey to the Center of the Earth. Although most folks over on the Twilight Time Release Schedule thread are scratchin' their noggins about As Good As It Gets being licensed for limited release, to me, this one is more of a jawdropper. Since the inception of home video, Journey to the Center of the Earth has been a flagship catalogue title for Fox, having been released in every format to date, including Beta and Laserdisc, and multiple times on VHS. Its worldwide fanbase is solid too - far in excess of 3000 - so I won't be wasting a second on this pre-order.

The only clues that something had changed within Fox regarding this title's prospects for a Blu-ray, was its curious absence from their Cinema Classics SE DVD series, and no 50th Anniversary re-release to coincide with Brendon Fraser's [sic] remake. What's the next surprise from Fox? Licensing to TT other evergreen sci-fantasy titles like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea or Fantastic Voyage?

What amazing news! Journey is one of my favorite childhood films. I've seen it too many times to admit. I watched the DVD about two months ago and hoped that a Blu-ray was in the works. And since it's from Twilight Time, I know the quality will be top notch. Can't wait to hear the beautiful soundtrack in high quality. One of Herrmanns finest IMO.

This movie is a childhood favorite of so many people. I'm 61 & I think I was 11 when I first saw it, & it made a real impression, the music, the sets, the great James Mason. I could be very wrong, but I predict a quick sell-out at 3000 copies.

And I find it hard to believe that Fox haven't released it themselves.

no the pre-orders for these new announcements are not up yet.
I'm sure a lot of people are wanting to know the exact moment, and I think someone needs to ask TT when that will be exactly.
there is no way I will miss any of TT's future schedule at the moment except for Bite the Bullet.
I'm passing on that one strictly for $ reasons, but want all the others for sure.

Yes it will. This whole idea of limited numbers of copies is just the dumbest thing ever. They ruined Fright Night with that crap and now they are gonna keep ruining more releases. Thankfully, none of the films in this list matter to me this time but it's the precedent that's being set. It sucks and I focking hate it.

What the hell is the point of so few releases?

Right...so... how about they release MORE copies and sell more to make more money? Just a thought. Good thing Apple didnt so that with the iPhone or iPad.

Luckily in this case I dont think it will matter since the films arent going to be high on too many peoples lists. But still....dumb.

Do you folks out there think this one has more of a following than Mysterious Island....That one still hasn't sold out. But maybe this one is more popular? Hard to tell, I guess...
