I'll take The Revenge over 3D. That's right I actually enjoy the 4th more. Hopefully 4 will come to blu as well with the original ending.

I love the premise of 3D. I just think the movie wasn't as good as it could have been. The effects are laugh worthy, but it's part of the film's charm for me. I look forward to the release.

I'm with you. Jaws 3D is by far the worst in the series IMO. Jaws Revege was pretty much crap too but at least it was a polished turd.

Default JAWS 3 blah!

I remember seeing this at the Movies when I was 12 years old.
The only good thing about this movie was the cool looking Poster.

Everything about this movie stinks.

This was Hollywoods cash cow and only reason it was made was to attempt bringing in Money just by using the name of the 1st movie.

It failed miserably: With a of Budget:$20,500,000
This movie only Grossed :$87,987,055 (Worldwide)

To date only 1 known version of this movie was ever released to the home market as 3D oly available in Japan on Video Disc VHD

Bootleg copies of it are available on DVD but.. not from the Studio.

The movie had only one 3d scene that I could recall and it was when jaws would crash through the looking glass at Sea World.

Nothing could save this movie even had Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss reprise their roles.

As you look back on it some of the actors unknown at the time like Dennis Quaid and Lea Thompson, They are prob the only thing worth checking out.

Rest of this movie was garbage in and garbage out.

How it even spawned a 4th movie is beyond me.
I'm going to stay away.

The film grossed nearly 450% of it's budget? Holy crap thats horrible! If only it could have pulled in a worldwide gross like the $100 million + budgeted films made today. You know like $200-300 million.

Yea because Hollywood never does that

Even the best sequels ever made (Terminator 2, Aliens) were made to attempt to bringing in Money just by using the name of the 1st movie.

Biggest fail argument to state that only 90million dollars worldwide is a fail.

By the way that is 1983 dollars which is inflation x2 + at this point. It made 220 million at the box office in now money.

Its place in the year rank of '83 is that of Kung Fu Panda 2 in 2011.

But anywho. My opinion is that all 4 jaws movies deserve to be on blu-ray and in the best presentation possible. I would like Revenge with both endings done through seamless branching. For sure. It was part of my childhood to watch all these movies on home video in VHS, I'd love them to be on blu

Here is a list of the biggest box office bombs of all time, JAWS 3-D is no where near these turkeys:

box office bombs

Also JAWS 3-D was still drawing huge audiences when it was pulled from theaters; **film historian R.M. Hayes says this action "was pure nonsense considering some cinemas were actually turning over more money per screen than the latest Star Wars film".

Er, try something a little more specifically in context--
Like "Here is the list of 1983 films":
http://boxofficemojo.com/yearly/chart/?yr=1983&p=.htm

To say "It made more money than Scarface" may not seem much of an achievement, considering that one did mediocre with mainstream audiences at the time too, but boy, doesn't that sting with the college/stoner crowd.
Most of the 80's 3D was the low-rent neighborhood, so Jaws and Friday 13th were considered the only "Mainstream" 3D of the 80's renaissance, and got the main share of the business.

I feel the same way, I also grew up watching Revenge on tv with the better ending (the theatrical one I learned of later).

I want to see all of the Jaws films come out a in a nice BD box set, with Jaws 3-D coming in BOTH anaglyph and real-d.

That would be the best of both worlds...so to speak.
Blu since September 22, 2009.

Any thing post "Jaws" is a shark jump especially the power cable at the end of 2. I'm sure they're many many more even "worse" classic shark jumps in the series but my memory on this is hazy.

Totally agree with you on releasing classic 3d movies.
As a point of interest, the third Creature movie wasn't filmed in 3D.

I'm with you on that! I think Jaws the Revenge is way more entertaining than Jaws 3-D. Neither are very good movies, but I liked that Lorraine Gary was back as Ellen, the opening in Amity, Michael Caine was good as always (in a thankless role), the cinematography was gorgeous and the music was solid. ( I really enjoyed the opening variation of John Williams' classic theme). Jaws 3-D bored me to tears even when I saw it in the theater!

I saw Revenge in the theater too back in '87 and I really do prefer the original ending. The editing was horrible and the shark effects substandard, but it worked better. The video ending where the shark explodes after being rammed makes no sense whatsoever...

Anyway here's hoping Universal sees fit to include the original theatrical ending when it finally released on blu-ray. But NOT as an extra...seemless branching all the way. As far as I know, the theatrical ending was never released on any home video medium.
