Not likely if it doesn't do that well in limited release.

The official site has it opening in only New York and LA on the 21st and expanding to 16 more cities on the 28th.

From all the limited releases I tried to see this summer I'm not holding my breath. We never got Saftey not Guarantied, Ruby Sparks, and Beasts of the Southern Wild only played here for a week.

Just saw preview for this, looks good, plus at this point I'll proabably see anything with Emma Watson, haha. And I'm in a big city so should have no problem finding it.

I got SNG, for a few weeks, but by the time I wanted to go it was on its last night. But Ruby Sparks is playing a few miles away, also I don't live in LA.

What's the point of putting the trailer on the Hunger Games blu-ray if it's not going to be a wide release? Such great exposure going to waste.

That's the whole point, though -- having that trailer on "The Hunger Games" will squeeze a few more ticket sales out of customers.

Does anyone think they'll keep the book's ending?

I do believe if it will remain a fairly faithful adaptation.

And the trailer on The Hunger Games DVD/Blu-ray releases is a good sign. That is in indeed great exposure for it. So they could still plan a wide release as long as it does solid in limited release. If it doesn't is when we need to worry.

I saw the trailer for this in front of Ruby Sparks, so hopefully it'll be opening here too. Looks interesting.

This book was huge in PA when I started HS in 99'. I'm guessing because Of the locations in the story. When I went to college it seemed like it was everyone's favorite book. I loved it when i was a freshman in HS, but when I read it again a few years ago, it had lost some of its charm. Still, it's the first book I would recommend for teens. Best modern "coming of age" story. I think that the trailer looks decent, I definitely wanna see it, but im not gonna get my expectations too high. Its a great look at adolescence but the times have all ready changed a lot ...I just wonder if it's 10 years too late?

Even though the book is a quick read, he streamlined the story. He said that he shot most of the book and will put the deleted scenes on the DVD/Blu-ray. However, he also said that he is happy with the theatrical version and considers it his "director's cut".

Fans of the book will really like it. It captures Charlie's awkwardness and isolation really well. It is odd listening to Emma Watson with an American accent for an entire movie, though.

Do they do the flashbacks throughout the story?

Yes, though Charlie's best friend in middle school is only mentioned briefly.
