Default Speaker Cable for HT setup?

I have monitor audio's that will be going into my HT and I was wondering if any MA users or not had a recommendation for speaker wire for my HT?

Thank you.

When I worked at Best Buy a year ago, I stocked up on AudioQuest cables. For my speakers I have FLX-X 16/2. For my HDMI, I'm using Cinnamons.

I have MA fronts and center and use regular #14 speaker cable. I apologize but I can't be sold on spending alot of $$$$ on speaker cable. IMHO its the gauge that matters most.
Good luck

Here's a speaker wire calculator.

Tells you the current flow, power at speakers, decibel loss and other tidbits by inputting Amp Power, Speaker Wire Length, Speaker Wire Gauge, Speaker impedance parameters. Decibel loss (less the 1 db is inaudible)

Buy whatever you feel is worth the money being asked for. If you feel speaker wires are worth no more than $0.20 per foot, then buy that. If you feel that they are worth $1000/foot, then go for it.

I am in the "cables make a difference" camp. My speakers cables are worth over $600 for the 5 of them. They seemed to open up the dynamics over the 12AWG Monoprice cables I was rocking before the upgrade. I'm just sayin'.

Preach on Brother Hammie! I'm right there with you 100%. People are very often on this site and others bullied, belittled, made fun of, etc for wanting to spend money on either their speaker cable or interconnect cable choices. I say if you have the money and if you want to try it, be my guest!

I am very happy with my choices in cables for my system despite what others think. I paid for them, I stand by them too. What I will say to folks is to put in the time and do your own research. Don't come here and ask what we think. There are already tons of opinions, reviews both consumer and pro reviews on these things. Read up on all of them, read the literature from the cable makers. If something catches your eye, go for it and find out for yourself with your own system.

Best of luck to the OP on whatever you decide; hope it works great for you.

I am with Hammie on this, one thing to remember is the more reveailing and the higer end your speakers get, the better you want your cables to be. That is in all honesty, for most foorstanding speakers below the 1K a pair I would say the Monoprice cables vs a really expensive cable would often not make a difference to justify the price difference and would barely be audible but I know as a great fact of certainty that speaker cables so make a differences and anyone can hear that difference when compared side by side.

I also did compare Nordost IC vs Monster IC and hell there was simply no comparaison between the 2 as the Nordost opened up a nice wide and deep soundstage vs a Monster, hearing is believing.

My question to the OP is what MA line do you have? Of course it's not worth paying thousands of $ if your speakers are not worth this much. I personaly run 14 awg Totem Tress at 6$ a foot and it is all worth it. I might upgrade to Nordost Blue Heaven for the front soundstage.

Good point and very important, IMO. I'm sure someone running any model Wilson Audio speakers will not run Monoprice. However, a Polk Audio user will and not benefit much, if any, with a speaker wire much more then $5.ft.

Thanks for that input.

People waste money on lots of things against inaudible improvements. On short runs aside from some type of poor amp suitability to RFI or AC ground loops speaker wire has little effect on dynamics.

If you have lots of money sure throw it away on $6 a foot cabling, but while your at it, why don't you convert to solid wiring heavy gauge so that you decrease your accumulative inductance and capacitance for that given length.

Whats wrong with a simple question on a forum for speakers against speaker wiring? I see questions like this all the time.
In one aspect you are correct their are lots of opinions online, but given various inputs here the OP can make up his own mine easily.

I'm not sure what your definition of dynamics is but I felt the mid-range and bass were tighter. I also noticed the mid-range change again once I changed out my power cords.

Not sure what your point was to come in here with your holier than thou attitude...

Saying "People waste money..." and "If you have lots of money sure throw it away..." only offends. No one else went that route but you chose to go there. Why?

Also, you took solarddads comment out of context. He was not belittling the OP. Maybe a more appropriate way solarddad could have been approached it was to say, "do some research and choose a few then ask us if we have opinions on the ones narrowed down." We also do not have a budget mentioned...

I too believe cables can make a difference. I like the way Audioquest looks at it. Proper cables will not improve your system or a recording but they will not get in the way and alter the signal in some way. Would I buy a $1500 set of speaker cables? No cause I could not afford it and it is more than the price of my amp. But something in the $100-200 a pair range would be about where I could go for me and my system. And if you look for deals or maybe ebay you can find some decent prices on better quality cables.
