Default how to bypass previews at beginning of dvd

Most DVDs let you hit the menu button on the remove after the DVD starts to go straight to the movie menu and skip the previews and ads. but it seems like more and more dvds don't allow that (prohibited!). I learned a trick of turning off the dvd player and turning it back on, and then the dvd would allow me to skip to the movie menu, but a rental dvd I got last night wouldn't let me. I had to watch 15 minutes of ads and previews before I got to start the movie!
Arrghhh...
any tricks for bypassing that junk?

Nice try, but Rental Blus are doing the same thing now. Sometimes you can FF but some do not even allow that. I know there were some tricks I found online to skip past previews but none would work with the PS3 because of how it loads blus and dvds.
If I go missing for a time, fear not, I am traveling with The Doctor. The 11th Doctor, Matt Smith.

Good to know I'm not the only one with this problem.
And, no, not all movies are on blueray so for some you have to go DVD.
And is seems like some of the netflix rental dvds force you to watch the previews and ads, which can cut into the time one has to watch the movie.
If anyone knows a solution, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks.
