Default List of DVDs with extras not ported to the Blu-ray release (North American ONLY)

The thread about the Spider-Man trilogy re-release, which brought up a discussion of the three separate DVD releases required to have all of the extras and commentaries for the first 2 movies, got me thinking about compiling a list of all of the DVD releases that are required if one wants to make sure they have all extras released for a particular film.

I've compiled this list based on the films I own, obviously this does not even scratch the surface and I need you guys to help as well. Keep on posting and the list will be updated intermittently (and this intro will soon be gone)

There are a ton of dropped features on Blu-ray. Many of the studios only licensed the extra features for the DVD format so they would have to pay extra to put them on the BD. Every studio has dropped extra features at some point on Blu-ray. We are still missing extra features from the laserdisc era.

Is this only regarding the U.S. blu ray releases? Because the European/international release of The Thing has all the extras.

Yes, Ideally i'd like to stick with US blu-rays and DVDs only, with imports there's the whole issue of special features being in PAL even if the movie is region free (I, for one, don't have a region free player)

If only there was some way that multiple members could contribute to a thread. But I'm hoping that limiting it to North American blu and DVD releases will help keep it more manageable. I can hardly wait until people start chiming in with obscure movies that haven't received any writeups online

I'm almost thinking of creating a new account, reposting this thread using that account (deleting this one of course) and sending the username and pass out by request

Would anyone else be willing to contribute?

Would anyone else be willing to contribute?
Yeah Crazyblue beat me to it...multiple accounts are not allowed here.
I don't see why you'd need to go through all that trouble. You've got the thread started, see how it goes...if it gets too overwhelming you can always revisit other options?
I'll try to get a list compiled of the few remaining dvds I haven't sold off yet that had extras not ported over to their BD counterparts!

Also, Equilibrium has been released properly in Japan. It contains both commentaries and is in 2.35:1 with Dolby TrueHD 5.1.

Are you getting a tattoo of the movie? I think I've seen you type the word "Equilibrium" over 10,000 times in the last couple of days!
Heck you're making me want to head to Wal-Mart and pick up the 6movie set!!

Also most Universal Blu's have dropped the theatrical trailer from the blu when it was on the dvd and HD-DVD.

Examples:

Apollo 13
Spy Game
Mummy
Mummy Returns
The Thing (1982)
Beautiful Mind
Bourne Identity
u-571
My AVATAR is the beautiful, insanely hot Lucy Pinder she's a model from England.

The DareDevil blu-ray seemed to have most the special features imported from the DVD.

I remember because I used to own both the DVD and the Blu-ray releases.

The first Spider-Man also had a deluxe edition that featured the two discs from the special edition with an exclusive third disc.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back only had the commentary from the two-disc DVD
Echo Bridge's From Dusk Till Dawn doesn't have any of the features from the two-disc Collector's Edition
The Evil Dead LE doesn't have the audio commentaries or "Life After Death: The Ladies of The Evil Dead" from the three-disc Ultimate Edition DVD or Fanalysis from the Book of the Dead DVD
Dawn of the Dead (1978) is missing two cuts (director and Argento) of the film each with a commentary, Document of the Dead and a bunch of photo/advertising galleries from the four-disc Ultimate Edition

Disney releases tend to drop a lot.

Snow White is missing a lot including a 40 minute documentary, a Barbara Streisand music video, additional deleted animations, featurettes, galleries, trailers

Similar stories for their other releases like Beauty and the Beast

It's not just for you.

I want it to catch the eye of anyone who scrolls down the first page.

However, this thread will be focusing on DVDs (that can be picked up for very little money) that have extras on included on the North American blu-ray release, not expensive foreign blu-ray releases.
Check out my Star Wars Home Video Collection Website:
swhomevid.site40.net

Yes, I STILL BUY DVDs! Any DVD with extras not ported to the blu-ray is STILL WORTH BUYING!

Most recent blu-rays: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Triple Feature (April 26), Star Trek: The Original Series, Season 1 (April 20)
