There is a guy on AVS forum by the name of Archea who owned two of these subs or at least the similar D6 model. From what I understand, they were great with music but were no match for the mid/higher range subs from SVS, HSU etc. in terms of output. In fact I think the amps may have failed after a while from driving them at higher volumes.

Never heard a Jamo sub myself so I can't tell you how it sounds. I'm inclined to think that it'll do the job if your expectations aren't that high. |

Those were the answers I was looking for.. So say an SVS PB-12 NSD would be better than this Jamo? I didn't buy the Jamo and friend has a home theater and gave it to me.. There is a reason he just gave it to me..lol He has an SVS now. Not sure which one tho. Its older.

The specs from that link state that it has a 15" woofer and a 400 watt class D amp. The site quotes easy extension to 20hz although that's always a mystery without an actual frequency test. (THX Ultra 2 I believe indicates that the 20hz mark is at -6dbs).
Unless you are used to the really good stuff I'm sure this will satisfy you. I saw it for $500 so in that price range I'm sure the performance is adequate. SVS is a great dedicated sub manufacturer, so I would never doubt their subs. The PB12 NSD would certainly outperform it from my perspective. Although you also have to consider that the SVS retails for $250 more, so if you are budget minded consider that. Last edited by WillGehring; 04-04-2012 at 02:56 PM. |
