I should have known this would happen considering the new film is coming out in the summer! I only just picked up the original release of the blu-ray a few weeks back! :/

Ah well il have to see if its worth picking up again, after all i do love this movie!

Finally someone reposted the thread. It was lost in the servercrash.

BBFC have passed the film UNCUT and given it a new 15 rating instead of the old 18.

Any reason they downgraded it? No longer view the same content in the same way perhaps. 3 nipples are now not 18 worthy

Hahah

I think they have started to ease off the nudity in films these days. Plus it's their 100th anniversary and they have started giving films lower ratings for some reason,

like I think Raiders? Thats been passed uncut now, I think there's an article saying that to celebrate the anniversary they will pass some older films with lower ratings uncut.

It's a progressive move tbh. Some of the restrictions of the past no longer hold up but since they were rated that way initially the classification was kept. Total Recall is a solid 15 i think, not an 18 anyways in todays standard. Meanwhile in the US.............Still R

The US needs a tiered system like here in the UK. Our system is honestly the most progressive classification system in the world i think for the tiered classifications

Australia is better as their advisory rating is 15 not 12. I believe they have a 15 advisory (can see if younger with an adult) and a hard 15 no one below that age. Means they cut or advise less to be cut than the UK where it is a 12.

This is because the UK has less tolerance for violence than the US. We allow much less at 12A than they do at PG13, but we have a much more enlightened view to sex and nudity. Just look at US TV where nudity is only on the cable channels not main networks. UK now rates many film with consensual implied sex with nudity a 15 but they have to be cut for an R in the US hence their unrated BD version.

Agreed, there's no way this would get a PG-13. It's a hard R, and I think its 18 is accurate as well.
