It isn't bad luck, I am about as far away as you can get from them.... CA -> NY.

I assume someone in California, or within a few states, would receive their order much faster.

DHL does seem to hold all my orders for 3 to 6 days in California though.

Edit: My Boogens order was in transit for almost 2 weeks so that wasn't too bad.

You can order from Best Buy or Amazon... I don't know if Best Buy will be carrying in stores... but it has already been mentioned that some Amazon customers have canceled orders to try and get them early from Deep Discount.

It doesn't matter what you or I think really... an agreement between Shout and a retailer has been breached and they don't like that because it harms them and other retailers.

Sorry to be repetitive, but what about Shouts agreement with themselves? The official Shout Factory webstore is reported to be shipping titles ahead of release, and has also done so in the past. Will they punish themselves in some way? What kind of trouble can they get in?

I thought that was one of the benefits of ordering directly from them even though the price is higher... or is it not fair to amazon that Shout is shipping their own product early

Are they (Shout Factory) shipping these same movies early? I hadn't read that. I just have been reading about people ordering from DeepDiscount and getting movies shipped early. I have not heard about Shout orders shipping early.

IF by some chance they are shipping early... it could be that the agreement they have with retailers is that they might ship early to direct order customers BUT agree not to undercut the prices of retailers... so people have to pay more direct to Shout but can get them early.

I'm guessing on all that of course, not knowing of such an agreement.

I am going based on the fact that the MST3K DVD sets usually start shipping before the official release - I remember getting a shipping notice the week before official release and did receive my order early. At the time several other people reported the same thing. I haven't ordered a real lot directly from Shout but I like to support them when I can.

I have no idea if these titles are shipping this early from Shout (probably not, but who knows) -- I just wanted to point out that sometimes discs do ship early and if the manufacturer is doing it, it isn't in violation of any agreement. I just wondered how that played into the 'harming other retailers' scenario when it is the company producing the discs "breaking" the release date.

Some retailers don't even ship until release date, which puts them at a disadvantage to, say, amazon which offers release day delivery.

Amazon is far from disadvantaged and in fact they frequently ship out early too. With preorders, Amazon always ships Prime orders before release date with the intent that the orders will arrive on release date. DD shipping is extremely slow so if you're lucky you'll have your order by release date. I see this as being no different than what Amazon currently does. The simple fact is that if online retailers can't ship until release date then they're at a disadvantage when compared to brick and mortar retailers.

Mine is coming via USPS. My shipment went out Friday afternoon, but the tracking didn't take hold until Saturday afternoon.

I'm in Columbus, Ohio. Not sure what shipping everyone chose, but I had mine sent Expedited (Priority).

DD provided a 26 digit tracking number which doesn't bring anything up

I also noticed that I accidently had it sent to my old mailing address - I just moved and forgot to update my home address on DD. I probably won't get it before the street date now.

Amazon disadvantaged? bwuahahaha... they are not the paragons of innocence...

Everyone still gets paid DD and Shout...., but everyone has loyalties to certain shopping places. I do want to point out that If shipping early is so BAD, why do sites like RightStuf, RACS not hear hell on earth? Anime is even more niche than this... Hey, whatever, I spent my hard earned money on something I want from a place that had it. Everyone's got their opinion though...so, whatevs...
