H3 does have a great soundtrack. I really dig on the Escape from NY soundtrack, the original pressing is the one to get. Some of Carpenters best i think!

MGM is an official studio, why would they release it as a dvd-r?

MGM on MOD: The MGM Limited Edition Collection

MGM Limited Edition Collection

It's a cheap, low risk alternative to a full-fledged DVD release. MOD releases are typically released for films that the studios feel would otherwise go unreleased. Other studios have similar programs, notably the Warner Archive Collection. Typically these DVD's have little to no restoration performed to the film, no special features (except maybe a trailer) and cheap menus.

Yeah, most of the studios are going in this direction for the remainder of their unreleased titles. A bunch of notable movies have been released like this: Killer Party, Night School, Enter the Ninja, The Legend of Billie Jean, and the upcoming New Year's Evil (on June 26th). The MGM titles are available on Amazon, and they usually run about $20.

Even some OOP dvds are being reissued on dvd-r, like De Palma's Obsession.

Interesting, thx for all the info. I am wondering though, will the transfer be like the HD transfer that is being sold by a few recent sellers, or will it be the poor grainy dvd one that was on netflix? Any word on the movie, The Island with Michael Cain coming to bluray? I see they did the same unreleased thing with it on dvd as you were saying. Thx again!!!

At least in the case of Obsession, you could import the Arrow release if you wanted it on Blu. It's region free and a damn good release.

From Scream Factory's FB:

Quote:
Anybody attending Fright Night Film Fest in Kentucky this weekend? If so, we have plenty of "Scream Factory" guests you'll want to check out...

- Catch MICHAEL FELSHER from Red Shirt Pictures on a Q&A panel this Sat. He and his team are the ones responsible for shooting many of the upcoming incredible extras that will be on our DVDs & Blu-rays for Halloween II, III, Terror Train, They Live and more!

- Writer/Horror Historian/Agent SEAN CLARK of "Horror's Hallowed Grounds". He's the guy who'll be revisiting the some of the original locations on Halloween II and III which will also be on our releases.
So Hallowed Grounds featurettes will be included on Halloween II and III.

Hi Cliff,

I scanned a few pages of this thread but didn't see this question/reply- so sorry if this has already been asked:

You mentioned that last Monday you were going to be cleaning up the dirt and scratches from the Halloween II master that Universal sent you. I was just curious if you'll be giving Halloween III some lovin' and cleaning up that master as well?

Can't wait for September 18th!!!!!!!!! Thank you SHOUT/SCREAM FACTORY

Cool. Sean Clark was the first guy I know of to make replica Shape/Michael Myers masks based off of an original Shatner mask, I bought one of the first off of him in the 90's.

Shouldn't there be a separate thread for each Halloween II release, or was the Scream one lost in the crash?
