Wasn't the Studio Canal Euro version always superior to the US BD release, even the HD DVD? Are we sure the US BD re-release will be the same?

Ditched my old copy a few weeks ago. Waiting for this one. Hoping it's greatly improved, as it should be. Lionsgate does BD right when they want to. They also know how to eff a release up.

Since it's a new Director approved high-definition transfer, i suspect the same for all.

I know that some of the EU SE DVDs (France, Scandinavia and the UK) apparently have an additional audio commentary with cinematographer Jost Vacano. Has anyone heard this one? Is it any good?

Audio Commentary with cinematographer Jost Vacano and Marko Kregel (in German with optional subtitles in English, Spanish or Portuguese)

Do you want to listen to a commentary that you have to read?

I meant to post this in the UK thread.

And yes, I do.

It looks like it's on the 2010 cut FSK-16 German SteelBook BD only--it must have been lost with the fusion of Kinowelt into StudioCanal even though their logo is on the SE DVDs that have this commentary. I was wrong about the French versions having it.

EDIT: It looks like it may be on the new German BD (which is now uncut at FSK-16)! I pray it will still include English subtitles.

The old commentary by Arnold is absolutely hilarious. Everybody should listen to his commentary - he literally gives a play-by-play of the events as they are happening. I think somebody should have explained to him what the purpose of a commentary was for. He literally narrates the film for us. Pure gold.

You could trade the old one in anywhere for $5

I picked up the original release for $5 at least 2 years ago. When the "Mind Bending Edition" comes out, I'll trade it in, get my $5 back, and upgrade.

But at least I've been able to watch a release of Total Recall that looks and sounds better than the DVD.
Check out my Star Wars Home Video Collection Website:

Yes, I STILL BUY DVDs! Any DVD with extras not ported to the blu-ray is STILL WORTH BUYING!

Most recent blu-rays: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Triple Feature (April 26), Star Trek: The Original Series, Season 1 (April 20)
