Hey everyone! My name is David. Most people on here have started calling me MM or M&M. I caught the Stereo/HT bug in the late seventies. I purchased my first stereo at the young age of 11. Wish I had a picture of it… It was a Yorx unit that was a vinyl, radio and an 8-track player. Now before you start laughing at me (which I do to myself a lot), I purchased it from my older brother whom is eleven years older than me. I remember my mom and dad taking me to Peaches Record Store to purchase my first vinyl record. WOW! I made an impression on them that day. All those choices, I was like a kid in a candy store. Eventually, I made my choice and took up to my mom and she almost passed out in the middle of the floor. It was KISS ALIVE II, which remind you in late seventies had Gene Simmons on the front cover with blood oozing from his mouth. She said “ask your father if you can have it.” So I took it to dad and the first thing out of his mouth at the register was WTH is that? :P Long story short, and some awesome begging on my part, I got it.
Then the mid-eighties hit and I purchased separate equipment to replace the “old” Yorx system I had on top of my chest. I went with Pioneer, Technic, and Kenwood speakers. My Pioneer equipment consisted of a receiver, equalizer, cassette deck, and CD player. Technic was my turntable for about 2 years then was sold. My Kenwood speakers – I hated them. At this time, a lot of change was going on in my life including the purchase of a Chevrolet Camaro Berlinetta which had a rotating cassette deck on the console. GOD! I loved that car and I was 21 at the time… When CDs were released, I saw them as the future of the music business, so I went to a local underground record store and traded ALL of my vinyl for CDs (my first experience with bartering – I walked in with 130 vinyl records and walked out with fifteen CDs – my butt was puckering). A year later, I decided to add a TV to the mix and upgrade of my system straight after college graduation and my first post-graduation job. I ended the eighties with the purchase of an RCA XL100 stereo TV and an entertainment center to house it all made of oak. At this time, I DID NOT make the jump to LD. I figured they were too large and the industry would come out with something smaller that would take control of the market. In the nineties, life kind of took over. I got married and had a son named Devin. My priorities changed and at this time, but I still possessed a very nice rockin’ stereo system. I changed jobs from NCR to Delphi Chassis Systems and I only changed individual pieces when they needed due to technology or a very high want. Furthermore, I didn’t make the jump into a 5.1 surround sound system. By the end of the nineties, I had fallen behind – WAY BEHIND. By the turn of the century, I was changing from VHS to DVD but not upgrading my audio components. By the middle of the decade, my audio equipment was mediocre at best but I had a TON of media including CDs and DVDs. Finally, about 2006 I purchased a whole new system, HTiB, consisting of an Onkyo HT-R530 receiver and 7.1 surround sound with a 32” TV. I was rockin’ again or so I thought. I got a new job where my income was a lifestyle changer then the 32” TV goes out right after the warranty expires. A MAN’S NIGHTMARE! I remember sitting there thinking, it’s time. I must’ve said “it’s time” all night. The next day, I began searching online for a TV and HT stand where I could have all the options I could ever want. The entire process took me quite some time (Thank god the computer didn’t die). I ended up deciding on the Samsung LN52A650 LCD TV and the Whalen BBXLS52VS HT stand. I love them both and ended up mounting the TV on the stand’s spine instead of mounting to the wall. The spine has a nice swivel to it also ![]() Since the beginning of 2010, I have updated my DVD player to a Blu-ray when the DVD player died. I felt it was time to make the media change; Blu-rays would be around for quite some time. I’ve been interested in updating my speakers and getting a receiver with HDMI inputs which leads me to the present. I have purchased my center – thanks to some incredible individual on the website. Next, are matching floors then either an Outlaw, HSU, or SVS subwoofer. I haven’t decided on the maker and model just yet. I’ve already decided on the new receiver – Onkyo TX-NR818. I’m just waiting on a good buy. Welp, it even changed from that to a Yamaha... This will be an on-going project so stay tuned…

The movie thing is the most irritating to me. I select movies and mark them as ordered on what I plan on getting. The owned is a pain also because I have to go thru my large collection to figure out what's missing. Im over 50+ missing from my lists.

Got an extra copy of Full Metal Jacket. Sad thing is I have had two copies of a few BDs, buying sets not because I forget what I have and buy it again. Think Aero does that though...Guess, I should admit, I've done it with CDs.
