White Men Can't Jump as well as Passenger 57. Hopefully this release is 100% accurate unlike what's going on with Blade right now.

Very good. If you're into crime/gangster films, you'll highly enjoy it. Snipes plays a villian extremely well.

I agree. When this released in 1991, I found it interesting how Wesley's performance was. Before this film he was always the good guy/funny man. Definitely his best film.

Default New Jack City - Blu-ray (Aug 14, 2012)

The dvd upcoverted looked pretty good but Im really excited to see this film finally hitting Blu-ray! Wesley Snipes playing the iconic Nino Brown leader of the CMB before Baby & Lil Wayne made it famous New Jack City made it infamous! Other stars include Ice-T, Mario Van Peebles and Chris Rock in his breakout role. Am I the only one making this a day one buy?

Finally!

I'm wondering why it takes so long for movies starring black actors to get BD releases. Some people actually want them.

That post really doesn't make that much sense.

I believe that he may be referring to not popular and or mainstream black actors. Mainstream black actors that get major press release, Leading screen roles etc get released in a timely manner. Take Denzel Washington for example. Imagine waiting 21 years for Safehouse to drop on blu!!! I'm almost positive that the majority of Denzel Washington's movies are on blu. If not on Blu they are on HD-DVD

Fallen is just now arriving on BD. Safehouse is a bad example, only because it's a current film.
Studios give priority on catalog releases for a number of reasons. Heading the list is probably: Money.
How much is said catalog BD going to make? I don't think it has anything to do with the ethnic makeup of the film.

Edit: I believe Hitch was one of the first film on BD.

That makes sense as well. I was trying to explain what Sephiroth5929 meant by his post or rather my interpretation of it. There are plenty of movies awaiting to be transferred from HD to Blu. It may not have anything to do with the ethic group but I think popularity has something to do with it as well.

For example: The Samaritan (2012/I) More at IMDbPro »

Basically its a flop in terms of the box office. But the studio knows that they may have a shot of making some of their funds back on blu and dvd and rentals etc.

Is Wesley Snipes as popular as Sam Jackson? No. Is Will Smith more popular than Wesley Snipes? Yes and as you stated Hitch which was a old movie had a fairly quick release to blu ray. Studios know what to release and when. Why spend money encoding a has been when you can release (insert actor name/ film) on blu and have guaranteed sales.

It also may have something to do with Wesley Snipes tax issues. I won't pretend to know how much money actors make from disc sales. How long was Brooklyn's Finest done before it saw the light of day? It flopped in the box office and the studio wanted to make their money back. Thus the quick release.
