Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One - Avengers Assembled Blu-ray

Marvel/Disney will be releasing a 10-Disc Box set featuring The Avengers, and all the Avenger Character movies. It's being called "Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One - Avengers Assembled". More details to be revealed on July 15th. From the teaser pic it looks like it may all be housed in a briefcase of sorts. Click the picture to jump to Amazon's listing.

Limited Edition collection includes:

• Marvel’s The Avengers (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)
• Captain America: The First Avenger (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)
• Thor (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)

• The Incredible Hulk (Blu-ray)
• Iron Man (Blu-ray)
• Bonus Disc - “The Phase One Archives” (Blu-ray)

Originally, the Collection was to be available on September 25, 2012, but unfortunately we are now unable to make that date. We are currently working with Marvel to identify the exact date when the Collection will be available, but we expect it to be during Spring, 2013. The Collection will come in a new briefcase and include even more than the content and features that were first advertised. We know that you are disappointed in this delay, and we are working hard to get your Collection to you as soon as possible. We will have an updated announcement for you in the coming weeks which will include actual timing and final details about the Collection. Once again, we apologize for the delay and hope that when you do receive the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled Collection, you will enjoy it as much as Marvel enjoyed creating it."

I really want this, but I wonder how the disc breakdown is. Didn't both Iron Man movies come with 2 disc blu-rays?

Based on this, it seems Iron Man and Iron Man 2 are being released in their 1 disc versions.

Sucks that it seems we're losing those two extra discs of bonus features.

The only possibility is the bonus archive disc which may have some of the content from the Iron Man releases.

I hate it when big deluxe sets (of multiple films) drop content from their individual releases.

Aw, fuddruckers. My friends told me not to spend my money on getting the movies on blu just before Avengers came out, but would I listen? Nope, I was just too impatient.

Probably, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't get lower than $150. For a limited edition, Disney, 3D, 6 movies, one of them the 3rd highest grossing ever, etc...

I thought $153 was fair, and I am happy to pay that. I'm glad I pre-ordered when I did.

For anyone that doesn't want the extras or 3D, Amazon UK has their preorder up for the 6 disc Avengers Assembled box set (one disc per movie) and it's about $60 US. Again, for those that want the movies at the lowest possible cost, $10 per, including the Avengers, is pretty good imo.

Supposedly more details will be released on July 15th. I'm waiting to see several things before preordering:

- What the packaging/extra content such as collectibles might be
- If the disc packaging will allow me to add in bonus discs/dvds from the versions I already have. I hate to lose the dvd copies of all the films and extra features from Iron Man movies.

Looks awesome, but I was hoping for more of a simple movies only set. No Harry Potter-like memorabilia or Blade Runner-like briefcase. Just the six films in a digibook or cardboard box at a price lower than buying each film individually.

We can almost rest assured the goal is to get people to re-buy.

We can rest assured that some of the bonus stuff on the earlier "2nd discs" will be dropped. And some new bonus stuff never included, will be exclusive to the set.

This always happens in these re-releases / re-packages. People will tear their hair out, loose sleep, gnash teeth, etc.
