lmao, i knew the jibe would come back

Its true, i am wanting to sell my copies in the future if they appreciated to a worthwhile value for me to sell. I'm not a diehard collector and although they're nice and everything, if the steelbook was >£50, i'd rather sell it to buy more stuff like movies and games in amaray version. It's just a way for me to keep buying stuff to enjoy since i don't have a job yet and no regular income as of yet being a student.

Don't worry though, i'm sure the 50+ Iron Mans from my student loan will payback in 1.5 years time

fair enough but the majority of steelbooks you wont be able to sell for really high prices for months/even years till they become really really rare. most steelbooks oop sell for £30-£40 on ebay. very very few sell over that unless they are a futureshop exclusive/japan exclusive/ korean taiwan etc or very limited run. i dont think you are going to make much money from it right now, u will need to wait a long time before you see a decent return in money

Not really in it to make profit tbh. I'd just be happy having 1 steelbook sell and allowing me to buy some older stuff to enjoy such as used games for my PS3 that are now a bit older etc.

I just have this itch, where if i had the cool shadow case i saw that member make, i would literally store all my steelbooks in something like that while empty and store the disks in one of those DVD holder things you can carry with like 100 spaces for movies in em.

I'm sure even more ebay sellers like most people just use it to supplement income anyway, rather than have it as their main source of income.

You post in practically every thread on this steelbook section yet you have no interest in keeping the steelbook, its just purely to sell? that aint right dude

buying 1 steelbook to keep + 1 to sell is one thing, but buying steelbooks purely to sell is just evil

Actually i really love the look of steelbooks and i have primarily bought them to keep but i was just saying if the opportunity to sell was favourable to buy more movies etc i would. Unfortunately the discussion has gone cross threads

I have so far in my collection got quite a few movies and none of them were bought with the intention to sell at all. As i said, i'm a light collector. I won't pay through the nose (although i admit i paid more than i said i would for Marvels ) but my collection is slowly and surely growing with movies i am very likely to keep. As i said, >£50 is the point really where i would strongly consider it but as you mentioned, thats a rare case and therefore i'll be keeping almost all my movies i buy

At least we know it's not going to be the steelbook lol. Could be like Sainsbury who had a 3 disk exclusive version while HMV snagged the steelbook exclusivity.

Thats a sucky price then for just a lenticular slipcover imo. Sainsbury were really cheap on their 3 disk exclusive which is why i double dipped and also bought the steelbook.

hmm i guess you are right, £18 seems pretty steep just for a slipcover version. either their price will come down or its something different

Well this steelbook art was always going to divide people - and I see it has!

Luckily, I really like it and this is probably the version for me. The movie was such a unique experience in theatres (you could feel the audience squirm during some sequences) it deserves unique artwork to match.

And for those people who don't "get" the image - how many floating heads have you seen around your neighbourhood lately?

I would bet that it's gonna be a limited edition with a slipcover and a reformatted edition of the Little White Lies magazine which recently featured extensive coverage of The Raid.

It'll be similar to the ones they did for Let The Right One In and Attack The Block.
Incidentally, I mention it only in passing. I could always tell the judge it was a matter of confession...

aha then its probaly that but £18 seems too much considering drive + shame were £12 with slip + little white lies

Did they do a Little White Lies edition for Drive? Damn, I missed that one. I know they did Attack the Block as a regular release and then put the slip/Little White Lies edition out at 25 quid. So 18 is not too bad.

I've already got the Little White Lies mag so I'll probably go with the steelbook. I know the art hasn't been overly popular but I like it. It seems to me they've followed the spirit of the movie with the manga style illustration - not quite what you would've expected but pleasantly, just a few clicks above the norm.

Yeah, it was odd that they didn't do the LWL mag in the UK. They have done mags for Shame and Let The Right One In (1st release) though, which were both released by Momentum just like The Raid. So I'd say Vertigo's prediction is pretty bang on.

No for Drive HMV did an exclusive Steelbook which sold out online to preorders sometime before release. It was available in store for a few days, as my store had a couple of copies. Pleased I got it as was pretty cheap.
