I don't recall having purchased a Blu Ray that includes a booklet insert with the exception of a Criterion title and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. In the past I think most of the DVD titles I purchased included some sort of booklet. I must admit that they generally were very weak, but do you miss them not being included with BDs?

Not really, but I do wish there was always artwork printed on the inside of the cover art.

I agree, I do look forward to that when I buy a Sony title. I also look forward to the Blu Ray disk Icon Art that shows up on my PS3 under the video menu... I enjoy the small things I guess

Off of the top of my head there is only 3 blu-rays in my collection that come with booklets, which are Casino Royale Collectors Edition, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and The Gonnies. I'm not interested in them personally, but I can see how others might like more releases to come with them.

I see where Lionsgate and Fox are still pumping these poor excuses for cases out. I will just keep swapping them for real cases I suppose.

I am a big fan of anything that can add to the presentation of a movie.
I know that a lot of people will argue that they don't care about inner artwork, disc art, booklets, bonus features, etc., but I really feel that in an age where people can easily download pirated movies, stream them from netflix, or pay for a digital version, the studios really need to give extra reason to actually pay for a physical package. If I love a movie, I want it's packaging to celebrate it. |

No. I don't miss them.
I'm a true movie fan. I'm not impressed by excess packaging. I don't like cardboard digibooks or pieces of paper stuffed with filler that I can read on the internet. Just put a good movie in a solid, protective plastic case. That's all I want. |

I was surprised to see a booklet in my copy of Chinatown most recently. Its only maybe 5 pages, but it brought back some nostalgia of the smell and feel of CD booklets.

I do. I love it when a good film gets the 5 star treatment. That kind of treatment was far more prominent with DVD. Going the extra mile is what I love about Criterion releases.
...I think you should throw a poll on top of this thread.
Adam: Why do you waste your time with that second-life bulls**t? Look at you. You're still in jail. You were in jail last week.
Jacob: Yeah, I'm a prisoner. It's called "doing hard time". |

I do. Worse yet is when not only is there nothing in the side area, but when half that area is gone because a recycle symbol is carved out of the box.

They might be "unnecessary" but I really used to like them w/ DVDs - they always made the package feel a little more special and collective. Plus it was always nice to have a list of the cast and chapter titles without having to go into the disc or online.... but then again that was back in the day when most collects had access to IMDB on their phones...
