This thread has now been restored

Blu-ray.com had a database lost where around 7 weeks of forum posts were completely lost.

At the High-Def Digest website most of my posts are an exact duplicate or very similar to the posts at Blu-ray.com. I restored this thread that was lost at Blu-ray.com with posts from the High-Def website which is like a running backup in case there is a server data loss.

Would you happen to know which movie is the most popular one? Most of them seem to involve real Hollywood talent like Kevin Sorbo or other former stars.

I am not sure which ones are the most popular but since Walmart has carried Jerusalem Countdown my guess is that title was one of the most popular titles (Plus Amazon is out of stock on the title currently). My favorites so far were “Jerusalem Countdown” and “What If”. Jerusalem Countdown is based on the John Hagee book about the end time Bible scriptures. “What If” was shot using a Red One Camera according to the bonus features on the Blu-ray disc. "What If" was written by the same Christian co-author that worked on the Left Behind series (Jerry Jenkins).

Correction Amazon is not out of stock on the Jerusalem Countdown Blu-ray. Going to Amazon's website directly and doing a manual search will show two Blu-ray listings for Jerusalem Countdown.

The following link at Blu-ray.com needs updated since it says "Not available to order"

I have removed “The Encounter” movie from the list because several sources have informed me that the Blu-ray version was never released and was canceled. The DVD was released on 9-18-2012 instead and can be purchased at the following link

The Encounter [Blu-ray] (scheduled to be released September 18th 2012).

They must be selling well enough on Blu-ray given the steady release pattern.

David White is one of my favorite actors. I love MOST of Pure Flix films, but sadly, this recent stream of end day releases have been very weak.

I hope they move away from this theme and get back to other topics.

If in the future 25% of the Pure Flix movies were about the book of Revelation and 75% about other parts of the Bible, then I think that would be ideal. The end of the age rapture movies and second coming type movies appear to be the most popular sellers with both non-Christians and Christians. I am looking forward to seeing The Book of Daniel movie when its released. Also Silver Bells is a Christmas type movie that will be coming out soon.

I am very disappointed that so far Pure Flix entertainment keeps porting over the lossy DVD Dolby Digital soundtrack to 100% of their Blu-ray releases. Pure Flix entertainment needs to start offering PCM or lossless audio soundtracks on 100% of all new Blu-ray releases. There are many other Christian studios that release Blu-ray movies with lossless audio tracks so consumers can hear the exact same bit for bit sound quality as the studio master.

I pre-ordered The Book of Daniel from an online secular website back in September. The title came out on October 1st 2013. Its November 6th and the title still has not been shipped out yet from the company that I ordered it from. I ended up getting Silver Bells on Blu-ray shortly after the October 29th 2013 release date. Today I ended up ordering The Book of Daniel on Blu-ray from another website and hopefully I will have it in about a week or so.

I am hearing that some websites had inventory issues for The Book of Daniel. Pure Flix Entertainment has a whole bunch of Book of Daniel Blu-rays that contain slight jacket defects and they are selling them for only $7.99 each.

The Book of Daniel, Blu-ray - Slightly Imperfect

Pure Flix Entertainment has officially canceled all new Blu-ray releases for the rest of 2013 and at this time no new 2014 Blu-ray titles have been announced

1. Example number 1 of a Blu-ray title canceled: My Hope America with Billy Graham was suppose to be released on the Blu-ray format on November 5th 2013 according to this link which shows the planned Blu-ray jacket with artwork ,instead those that want to watch My Hope America with Billy Graham in HD quality are required to use the VUDU HDX 1080P streaming feature built into their Smart HDTV or Blu-ray player.

2. Example number 2 of a Blu-ray title canceled: Surrendered: The Story of Jay Harding was suppose to be released on the Blu-ray format on November 5th 2013 according to this link which shows the planned Blu-ray jacket with artwork, instead those that want to watch Surrendered: The Story of Jay Harding will only be able to view it on the lower quality standard definition 480i DVD format (No streaming VUDU 1080P HDX release either).

In my communication with Pure Flix Entertainment customer service, they did not know why the two above Blu-ray titles were canceled. The reason for the cancelation of the Blu-ray versions is most likely because of a lack of demand. Pure Flix Entertainment is the largest Christian movie studios in the world. Pure Flix Entertainment originally started out releasing native 1080P Blu-ray titles using the MPEG-2 codec, however they switched to the better quality MPEG-4/AVC codec for all new releases around September 18th 2012 with the release of The Encounter Paradise Lost Blu-ray. Pure Flix Entertainment spent a ton of money upgrading their equipment to HD and Red One cameras. Many of the Pure Flix Blu-ray titles released were shot with a Red One Digital camera and the picture quality is comparable to many secular Blu-ray titles.

Some of the Pure Flix Blu-ray titles use lossy 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound while other titles for budget reasons only use lossy 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo. The greatest weakness with all the Pure Flix Blu-ray releases so far, is that none of them contains a PCM or lossless audio soundtrack yet (lossless audio is the norm for 100% secular Blu-ray movie releases in 2013).

So far Pure Flix Entertainment has released a total of 19 Blu-ray titles between November 1st 2011 and October 29th 2013. With the cancelation of My Hope America with Billy Graham Blu-ray version and Surrendered: The Story of Jay Harding Blu-ray version one starts to question if future Blu-ray movies will be released from Pure Flix Entertainment. At this time no new 2014 Pure Flix Blu-ray titles have been announced. Also on the Pure Flix website many of the Blu-ray titles are currently as low as $5.00 with up to 75% off. Those are clearance prices.

The culture is changing in America and other parts of the world. Christian movies are less in demand on Blu-ray compared to other types of movies. For example I did some research and I discovered that hardcore pornography is more in demand on Blu-ray compared to Christian movies. Many Christian movies only have a budget of 1 million dollars or less. There have been over 1,000 hardcore porno movies released on the Blu-ray format with many getting multi-million dollar budgets. For example Caligula on Blu-ray had a final budget of 22 million dollars and the Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge Blu-ray had a 8 million dollar budget and was released on the Blu-ray format as a 138 minute hardcore porno movie version instead of the 93 minute R rated version. The porn industry has even been releasing a lot of high budget Blu-ray 3-D hardcore porno movies lately.

The following is a direct link to the 19 Blu-ray movies at the Pure Flix website (many of them are being sold at clearance prices of $5.00 per movie)

Silver Bells, Blu-ray

Revelation Road, Blu-ray

Revelation Road 2: The Sea of Glass and Fire, Blu-ray

Jerusalem Countdown, Blu-ray

Escape, Blu-ray

Brother White, Blu-ray

The Book of Esther, Blu-ray

Meant To Be, Blu-ray

Christmas with a Capital C, Blu-ray

The Mark, Blu-ray

The Mark 2: Redemption, Blu-ray

This Is Our Time, Blu-ray

Marriage Retreat, Special Edition Blu-ray

The Encounter: Paradise Lost, Blu-ray

Apostle Peter and the Last Supper, Blu-ray

Me Again, Blu-ray

The Book of Daniel, Blu-ray

What If... Blu-ray

Christmas Angel, Blu-ray

Pure Flix Entertainment has not announced any new Blu-ray titles for 2014. There is a possibility that all new Pure Flix Entertainment movies which are shot with Red One cameras might exclusively only be available in a streaming format on VUDU and Netflix (VUDU and Netflix already have many Pure Flix movie titles that have not seen a Blu-ray release). Currently there are many Pure Flix titles on VUDU HDX 1080P, that is available for purchase and rent for those with Smart HDTV’s or streaming Blu-ray players. Netflix also has some older Pure Flix titles available for streaming. However even though the lossy 5.1 surround sound is the same quality as the lossy 5.1 Blu-ray, the Blu-ray 1080P picture quality is a much higher bit rate compared to VUDU HDX 1080P and Netflix HD streaming. VUDU HDX 1080P streaming is good for the average consumer that has a 50 inch or smaller display. On a 60-120+ inch display the Blu-ray higher bit rate looks much better compared to any streaming provider including VUDU. However if the Christian Blu-ray titles disappear from the market then VUDU HDX 1080P and Netflix 1080P HD streaming will be peoples best option for watching Christian movies.

I think they would sell better if most of their movies didn't look like cheap Hallmark films.

Some are pretty good, but most are pretty bad. I support the wonderful message in each film....but most still lack anything that resembles Hollywood quality. I mean...MARRIAGE RETREAT was one of the worst Pure Flix films I ever saw. But HIDDEN SECRETS was WONDERFUL.

Also, it gets very old to have the same actors in almost every film. It starts to look like extended Saturday Night Live skits, with each film featuring the same actors as different characters.

I LOVE seeing David White in several of these, he's SUCH a good actor, and so are several of the others (except Victoria Jackson) ....but in EVERY film? REALLY?

And finally, the latter films (Revelation Road 1 & 2), (The Mark 1 & 2) were just so poorly written and put together. The attempt to make action films is respectable, but it just isn't coming across very well. Something is missing and I can't put my finger on it.

Yet, I still LOVE and RESPECT Pure Flix. I just hope they improve their upcoming films.

I agree some of the Pure Flix movies have a low budget look. In addition, I did get tired of seeing some of the same actors and similar church sets for some titles. Sherwood Pictures releases have a higher budget for some of their latter Blu-ray titles and also 100% lossless audio for all their Christian Blu-ray releases.

Everyone has different tastes in Christian movies. I have ordered all 19 Blu-ray movies, and the only one I have not seen so far is The Book of Daniel. My favorite Pure Flix movies are Encounter (480i DVD with 5.1 Dolby Digital) and my second favorite was Encounter Paradise Lost on Blu-ray. I also liked Apostle Peter and the Last Supper, Meant To Be, and Christmas Angel. I thought Pure Flix did an excellent job with the action movie called The Mark which had an estimated budget between 1.0-1.5 million dollars. The storyline was good along with the RED ONE camera image quality was excellent. The sequel the Mark 2: Redemption was not as enjoyable as the original.

It’s not a good sign to see a few Pure Flix Blu-ray titles canceled toward the end of 2013 and some Blu-ray movies listed at 75% off on their website. In Jan 2012 and Jan 2013 new Pure Flix Blu-ray titles were released and the announcement occurred months before their official release date. However so far no new 2014 Pure Flix Blu-ray titles have been announced. There is always the possibility that Pure Flix Entertainment could surprise people and announce some new movies on Blu-ray for late 2014 or 2015. Some Pure Flix movie titles are exclusive to VUDU and Netflix, and they are not on Blu-ray at all. Perhaps in the future those that want to watch Pure Flix movies in HD quality might need to have a VUDU or Netflix account.

Too bad the Cloud Ten films aren't on Blu-ray. I'd be in for Apocalypse II: Revelation. That movie rules. Of course, the Mark IV stuff especially A Thief in the Night, properly transferred it would be like a whole new movie. A good Blu-ray of If Footmen Tire You... would be so cool.

I enjoyed the Home Run movie on Blu-ray. I’m In Love With a Church Girl Blu-ray is being released on January 14th 2014 from
Vivendi Visual Entertainment. I have that on pre-order.

I would also like to see some Cloud Ten Christian movies released from their catalog.

I agree, the entire Apocalypse series (1-4) would be WONDERFUL on bluray. Cloud Ten Pictures just finished filming the new Left Behind reboot in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, starring Nicholas Cage & Chad Michael Murphy. I hope it's good.

Pure Flix appears to be the leading company releasing Christian titles right now, and while I'm glad for that, I just keep hoping they will get better.
