Stones brilliant recreation of the JFK assassination is as good as it gets when it comes to tension on screen.
His attention to detail is phenomenal and John William's pounding drums makes it one of the most powerful sequences ever filmed imo.
The "D" is silent, hillbilly.

You might laugh, but the opening credit sequence in Fight Club gets my heart racing every time.
Several scenes throughout Run Lola Run, but especially the animated sequences as she's running out of her apartment building. When the T. Rex attacks the kids in the park-ride car in Jurassic Park. The scene at the class reunion when Ray Liotta's character first appears in Something Wild, with The Feelies playing Loveless Love, underscoring the moment perfectly. The beginning of The Times of Harvey Milk with the archival footage of Dianne Feinstein announcing to the press that Mayor Moscone and Harvey Milk have been shot and killed. The performance of the song Exit in U2 Rattle and Hum. When the Wicked Witch of the West disappears in the cloud of smoke and fire after threatening Dorothy (and her little dog too) in Munchkinland. When the image freezes on Garp's son Walt's face and moves in for a close-up with a car horn blaring after the car accident in The World According to Garp. |

This scene! I think I was yelling at the TV at the time, but it about to lose my mind. I brought it up recently because I bought it, and someone made a face when I told them I got and I asked if they didn't like it and they said "It's OK", and I started talking about this scene. How did this scene not make an impact on everybody who watched it?

Zero Dark Thirty: The raid in particular, which was odd because knowing what was going to happen created a more intense situation for me the first time I watched it.
The Thin Red Line: When the soldiers attack the Japanese camp on Guadalcanal. Hans Zimmer's amazing score helped a lot with this one. Brilliant scene that seems to dig into my very soul. The Place Beyond The Pines: CONTAINS SPOILER! [Show spoiler] These are just a few examples... I'm sure I will think of more. |

I too agree with most of these, but the most recent movie that gets me on the edge of my seat is the scene in Prometheus,
[Show spoiler] Damn that scene gets me and my wife going, she can't even look at the scene. It's so nasty and realistic looking.....MMM Yum, puts me in the mood for some calamari. |
