Default Security seals on top and the difference in weight/feel

I went to Best Buy yesterday and I was checking out the Warner Bros. Blurays. They have the $5 coupon Dark Knight Rises promotion going on where they reissued a bunch of great titles and slapped these stickers/coupons on the outer plastic packaging.

I noticed that they were mostly lacking a white security seal at the top with the title of the product. The cases also felt hollow when I compared them to the very few that had a white security seal at the top. The ones with the seal felt tougher, less hollow and like there might be more content (extra disc?), like they were airtight and sturdy while the ones without you could pinch them and they deflate in a sense.

What's that about?

The difference could be attributed to the shift to using eco cases (huge chunks of plastic cut out) and and to using less plastic in general (i.e. the cases are thinner).

Yep, that's correct. I just opened up the ones I bought. I bought 3 Warner Bros. films that had the promotional sticker for TDKR tickets. They were 9.99 each so I figure that's really $5 because the coupon is $5 off a TDKR ticket. (Yea I will probably see the film about 4 times.)

Sucker Punch felt flimsy and didn't have the white security sticker. You open it and take out the discs, there's paper (the outside of the case) you can poke through and it seems like it would allow a lot more air inside the case, while even being able to touch the sensitive backsides of the discs from just holding the cases on the outside.

Terminator Salvation and Watchmen (Director's Cuts, the only available) DID have the white security stickers and felt stronger and a tad heavier. Opened them up and sure enough they are more airtight durable containers with no paper gloryholes. Watchmen also came with a third disc (the digital copy DVD which I know was not in the others that were reissued in the "eco friendly" (crap) cases. It also had the promotional material to buy the Ultimate Cut coming holiday of 2009. So mine was a leftover they just tore the plastic off of and put new (I could tell because the plastic look resealed and looser.

I wish I could have found a Sucker Punch one that was part of the old release. I also wish that damn Best Buy exclusive Steelbook had both discs instead of just the theatrical. But it is one of my favorite films ever so I'll be buying whatever new edition they are sure to release in the next 5 years. I just hope the paper gloryholes it has (in the shape of recycling symbol) doesn't let too much air into it to deoxidize it or age it. I'm poor, I can't afford all these things at full price.

Thanks for the answer.

Also would like to add that I bought Terminator 2 Skynet Edition from Amazon.com (for $5) and it also had the crappy eco-friendly case. But it also had the white security sticker at the top.

So lesson here is if you are shopping at a store where you can actually touch the cases, grab a pair and feel around. You should feel if they're flimsy or nice and hard.
