Red Dawn Blu-ray Mods feel free to move this to the Wish List if necessary! Couldn't find an existing Red Dawn thread, so I figured I'd start one. Well the remake is due in theaters this November, and now UK has the original up for preorder, AND it's been OTA HD for quite some time. With all that, I can't help but feel encouraged that we will be getting a US annoucement soon! 2012 remake via IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1234719/ UK BD due Nov 5th: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Red-Dawn-Blu-ray/50203/ Last edited by Deciazulado; 08-02-2012 at 12:52 PM. |

I wouldn't think that would be the case since Fox is handling MGM's catalog titles at this point.

I would love it if this comes out!
Although despite the now uber-famous cast I'm starting to get scared that the remake might be a VOD release and not a wide theatrical release (they havn't even set a date or bothered to produce a trailer and November is only 4 months away) - and that might hinder the blu chances... |

I'll buy this, but the DVD is for me like my Down By Law DVD, I have to keep it due to the fact that it's signed.
The Down By Law was signed by Jarmusch back in 2004 or so at a screening. The Red Dawn is signed by C. Thomas Howell when I worked on a TV show with him about 4 years ago. He signed it Wolverines! and his name.

I'm pretty sure this will be the same 2007 era film scan on a BD-25 with the MPEG-2 codec. On the plus side, the early Fox/MGM releases are free of DNR and look pretty good overall, even if they're a bit soft. I've seen the MPEG-2 HDTV broadcast of this movie and it looked very film-like with intact grain, and a decent amount of detail. I am assuming they will use the same scan, so overall I think people will enjoy it.

Mine! I'd loved this as a kid!
"Don't be stupid, this is way more entertaining than Hollywood's ever gonna be!" - Revy, Black Lagoon
"I'd buy that for a dollar!" - TV Show Host, Robocop What really happened to Farscape! |
