I'm hoping this comes out by Christmas, or early 2013 at the latest. At 2 seasons a year, Paramount could have the whole show on Blu-Ray by 2015.

Cast reunion looks fun. You'd think they'd stick that in either the first or the last season, but hey. I guess they think the first season will sell because it's, well, the first, and so putting a cool feature like that on the second will peak people's interest for that as well, even though it's also not that well-liked.

Paramount aim to get it out by the end of the year, but I'm expecting it to coming just a week or two before Christmas, given they only began working on Season Two at the beginning of the year. So let's not expect a November release date.

It is strange that they put the cast renuion on the Season Two set, especially since Gates McFadden wasn't in it, but hey I'm not complaining, because it looks fun. And I love how they're the artwork very consistent.

Part of me thought they might put Diana Muldaur on the cover since this was the only season with Pulaski. Just a thought. But I really like the covers they have created for these BD releases. Very elegant.

Yeah, the news I've heard is a Q4 release for S2, as per the Season 2 Trailer, I believe.

Not well liked? Season 2 introduced the Borg with "Q Who?" Plus "Measure of a Man". There were some good Season 2 episodes. Not to mention Gordi becoming Chief Engineer and the addition of Ten-Forward and Guinan. Chief O'Brien also got a more prominent role in S2 as well. And you can't pass up "bearded Riker."

It's on Season 2 because there's only 22 episodes vs 26 per usual. They are trying to increase the value. Good idea.

Well, yeah, and we got a full season of Diana Muldour while she only had a couple guest star appearances in TOS.

what's the behind the scenes story to why Beverly Crusher wasn't on season 2? Did the actress not resign?

I read that the reason for her leaving was that the actress was being harassed by someone on the production side. They asked her back after he left or was fired.

I thought they just wanted to get a more McCoy-ish doctor character than Crusher, but they just ended up with a sourpuss drag.

Agreed, and I look forward to this interview, but I'd be super-happy if they included "Star Trek: The Saga - from One Generation to the Next" - the special that aired before the second season going behind the scenes and introducing Pulaski and Guinan. It's only ever been released on Japanese Laserdisc and it's a fortune.

I didn't realize the Borg were introduced this soon into the series. I must have forgotten. Also, I thought I read in another review but want to make sure. Are these releases similar to TOS in that both the original effects and Remasters are on the discs?

There aren't original and new special effects per se; most of the effects are the original ones, just cleaned up and re-composited to make them much sharper than before. However, quite a number of effects, such as phaser beams, only exist in SD, so they have been replaced as faithfully as possible with new HD ones.
