I'm really glad to see the Godzilla films hitting blu-ray in America. This is great news. Hopefully it will be descent release. All the Godzilla films have been remastered in very high quality HD in Japan already. They aired them in HD on tv in Japan, and I think they are on blu-ray already over there unless I'm mistaken. Does anybody know if this uses the Japanese HD remaster?

The only way I and I assume plenty others will buy this is if it features the original Japanese language track with accurate subs (re: not dubtitles!). Hopefully Echo Bridge take this into account.

How have we still not had a decent edition of King Kong vs Godzilla? It's one of the more well known G films and yet you can still only see it dubbed.

From what I've heard Toho didn't take good care of the Japanese print, and it doesn't look nearly as good as the English print Universal has.

We probably won't. King Kong Vs Godzilla is the only film Toho doesn't have control over in the States because they signed those rights completely away to Universal back in the 60's to get this film made. Universal owns all rights except for Asia. That's the only territory that Toho has control over the film.

And just about every print of King Kong vs. Godzilla that ever existed on home video has been mediocre at best when it came to video quality, with the exception of Universal's American release back in 2005, which was far superior. Hard to believe that King Kong vs. Godzilla is the most successful Godzilla movie (or the highest grossing one) ever made, yet Toho has given video/DVD releases that are sub par, for the most the part.

It's great to see Godzilla vs. Biollante on Blu Ray. I almost had ALL the Godzilla movies in my inventory until my Standard TV died and I had to sell my DVDs.

You sold them for money or did they not look good on a newer TV?

Both.

Some of my DVDs were actually Region 3, specifically from Hong Kong. The Heisei Godzilla Series, that series that came out in 1984 and ended in 1995 with Godzilla vs. Destroyer, were given English subtitled releases for a bargain price. Unfortunately, a pattern emerged were one release would not be anamorphically enhanced, and the next would be. This would continue all the way till Destroyer. Since Blu Ray players are by default made to play Region 1 DVD and I tried to look for region free codes and found nothing, a segment of my collection had to be sold. There was also the fact that even if I had found success and manage to find a code, some of my non-anamorphic DVDs would've looked liked sh*t, regardless.

And some of the money I made from my collection went into the HDTV and Blu Ray player and couple Blu Ray discs. A little bit of me died when that happened.

The cover art looks cool and Im excited that we finally have official release of this. I hope they put time and care into the package otherwise whats the point.
Now if Godzilla 1985 could come out with the USA Burr and Burr-less version with the Japanese version I would be very very stoked !

I hope the pre-order for G v.B will be sooner than later

Someone who claims to work for Echo Bridge is feeding information to everyone, and so far a lot of his stuff appears to be accurate. For example, he was the one who broke the cover art picture.

Great news!!! I remember when I bought a boot-leg VHS tape of this movie that had zero subtitles with original Japanese language.

I have always been a G-fan..I grew up in the 80's when they had A godzilla movie on every Saturday...Good Times.

Now if we can just get a Ultimate Godzilla Blu Ray set with all the movies....
