DC Animation Confirms Plans For The Dark Knight Returns Movie

Quote:
IGN report that during last night's premiere screening of Batman: Year One, executive producer Bruce Timm revealed the next wave of DC universe animated features. The first, Justice League: Doom, we already knew about. The next was an adaptation of one-shot Superman story, Superman vs. The Elite. Pretty good so far, eh?

Well, here's something even more exciting. The third movie they'll be releasing in 2012 is none other than Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, it's first ever two-parter. "It's going to be very, very faithful to the comic," Timm thankfully promised the lucky fans in attendance. No further details were revealed, although a question from the audience did prompt voice director Andrea Romano to say they would consider using Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill for the voices of Batman and the Joker.
Can't wait to see it.

I first heard this a couple of months ago from IGN, but news that it's still going forward makes me squeal like a little girl

After some searching I found this:

Not too fund of the voice for the Mutant leader but the rest seems like a good choice except for maybe Robin.

A couple of corrections:

The Dark Knight Returns was a limited run comic book, not a graphic novel. It's been released in hardcover collected editions, but it is not a graphic novel.

Secondly, although the movie is coming in two parts, the original story was not two parts. It was four parts. Four individual issues. There was a sequel titled The Dark Knight Strikes Again, but that has nothing to do with this movie.

None of the covers are consistent with the art in the actual animation in these DTV movies. The actual character designs appear pretty similar to the source material, even if the linework is a lot cleaner.
I need to stop buying so many movies and not getting around to watching them.

Can't wait to see this. The last few animated Batman films have been pretty good. Hopefully this follows the same trend.

Under the Red Hood was good and Year One was damned good, so I am looking forward to this. As much as I miss Conroy, Peter Weller is a good choice for an older Bruce. I just wish they would have gotten Bryan Cranston back for Gordon.
