Laura Blu-ray

Laura Blu-ray Review

IMDB 8.1 Rotten Tomatoes 100%

Quote:
"Laura" (1944) is one of the great classic Hollywood movies. It's a stylish film noir with an exceptional cast that includes Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, Clifton Webb, Vincent Price, and Judith Anderson. Elegantly directed by Otto Preminger, the movie won an Academy Award for cinematography, and the costuming and art direction are outstanding. The film is famous for David Raksin's haunting music.

This has got to be part of the Studio Classics line.

Foreign films that need to be on blu-ray:
Raise The Red Lantern (1991, Zhang), The Best of Youth (2003, Giordana), Still Life (2006, Jia), 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007, Mungiu)

Awesome news. A seminal noir that should look incredible in black & white on blu. I love the atmosphere in this picture, a perfect example of that Old Hollywood studio look and temperament. And a wonderful score to boot.

Laura was actually Spine #1 from the Fox Film Noir series TJS_Blu...which probably means this is good news for fans of that collection.

I was speculatin' on the HD Studio Classics line-up. I'm guessing that some of the old Film Noir titles are going to be released as Studio Classics this time around. I own all the Noirs but only around a third of the Studio Classics. Laura was even announced as a Studio Classics title but was delayed until The Noir series got off the ground.

Hope they have more inspiring cover art this time around.

Hello Dolly was one of the 70mm Todd-AO titles that Fox sent to Fotokem for 8k scanning Flanger-Hanger. So yes, it should look great.

This is another title that took me a little while to warm up to but I cannot wait to sink into this one.

now let's get Leave Her To Heaven announced and all will be well.
seriously, that film needs to be next after Laura to be released imo.
It is the seminal color noir of the 40's, and one of the few color noirs at all for that matter.

There's also another Fox Blu-ray candidate, Fuller's House of Bamboo.

yeah I was thinking about Niagara also--which is in the 50's of course.
House of bamboo I have on dvd, but haven't gotten to yet.
I have the whole Fox noir set, but have only gotten to about half of them so far.
maybe I'll watch that one next; nothing ever beats a good noir imo.

I've seen Laura twice and it just hasn't clicked with me. I dunno why. I love noir, all the actors are good and the story is straight-up pulpy noir but I just sat there waiting for it to end.

Regardless, I'll pick it up to advance the cause and hopefully Fox will keep putting these out. I'd really like to see Where the Sidewalk Ends.

I know how you feel, there are movies like that for me too.
I have the DVD of Laura from the Film Noir Line Spine 1
This will be a day one purchase for me , but I hope that Fox will include insert/booklets with their Blu Rays since they had cool information
Yes, I like inserts, some people like Slip Covers, Echo Cases, I like my inserts !
