Nice have they verified if they are doing a Slipcover? Nice cover none the less. I want this on BLU!

I haven't seen anything yet in regards to a slipcover. I know Cliff said not all titles would have them. So maybe this will be one of those that do not.

Kinda figured this one wouldn't. Thanks for the confirmation though. Curious to hear if there's some extras though but I imagine it'll be a bit until we find out.

I won't complain about no slip since this was a title I wanted on BKU and would refuse to watch it on DVD. Day one purchase

The big problem is most of the people involved have passed away including the director and just recently, one of the producers.

I can't wait.

Wonder why they want the Halloween films released separately on DVD and Blu but will let The Island be part of a combo pack?

I've honestly never heard of this movie before, but after a quick google search and how much I really love the other titles in the Scream Factory line, this will be a rare blind-buy for me!

Is this part of the Scream line, or a regular Shout release? I'm not really familiar with the film, but isn't it an action/adventure film without any horror elements?

Good point. I hadn't realized so many had passed away until you said that and I took a look at the IMDB page. It'll still be nice to see this on Blu-Ray.

*EDIT: Was just thinking... since there's some that like and/or require subtitles, maybe English subs could be included since it sounds like there may not be much else as far as extras. Just food for thought.

I think you might like it. I personally love it. There are a few moments where you have to fill in stuff that isn't explained or shown (like just how far they "condition" Michael Caine's son) but otherwise you can't really believe what you're seeing but could still see it happening (especially in the late 1970's to early 1980's). Caine's relation to Col. Meynard (the man who hunted down and killed Blackbeard) REALLY pays off in the end (can't wait to see that part in 1080p!).

Cmac: I have to say thanks again for helping to get THE ISLAND on blu-ray as opposed to a DVD only release. Thanks also for using the original movie poster artwork.

On one last note (just for sh*ts and giggles), you may consider giving Mr. Caine a call if for no other reason than just to record the phone call and include it on the blu-ray (if he decides not to talk about it)... I can only imagine what colorful things he might have to say.

Slipcover or no slipcover, I'm buying it! Slipcovers doesn't make blu-ray movies any better or worse. If it doesn't come with a slipcover, so what! To open the blu-ray, you'll have to take the slipcover off anyway.

Hmm... I didn't know there was different artwork. Do you have any links or pics you could post (nothing big, but at least something to check out)?
