Default New Resident Evil Box Set

I saw a new Resident Evil Box Set at Best Buy, presumably to cash in on the fifth movie being released (Resident Evil: Retribution).

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Resident...evil&lp=3&cp=1

Nothing new other than the addition of UltraViolet Digital Copies for all of the movies. You don't even get Movie Cash.

(This looks like a Best Buy Exclusive. I don't see a listing at Amazon.com.)

Saw that too. Nothing fancy. More cashing in. To think it wasn't even advertised.

Studios are getting lazier and lazier. The Underworld Trilogy set included a fourth disc with anime episodes. This is just a minor repackaging, though I suppose some fans might buy it if they don't already have the movies on Blu-ray.

What's the point of buying a box set like this when you know at least one more film is coming in the franchise?

No idea, but a forum member bought a copy.

To get people to be caught up in the movies before watching the latest one in the series. But of course it's mostly more for people who haven't seen the movies yet and previous boxset(s) going OOP.

So no point for people who do have the movies already or have at least seen the movies inside the boxset. New-comers makes it great to own so that they can go to the movie theater with fully knowing the story that has build up to the latest movie.

Those who do have these movies already, the only advantage is having an Ultraviolet Digital Copy of the movies right now.

You get a chance to catch up on the previous films and possibly snag some movie cash.

As a fan of the video games, the 'Resident Evil' films are disappointing to me. The series, thus far, has been an incoherent mess of different scenes, characters, and story arcs that offer nothing but visual flair. When people discuss video games on film, I usually point to 'Silent Hill' as the standard for a well-made transition... but I digress.

I wouldn't buy it as I already own the individual releases, but if I were a RE fanatic, I could see myself buying it.

Hell, I just bought the DVD of Godzilla vs. Megalon, so I understand buying bad/weird/multiple releases of a title, only to have an "even more complete" collection.

I saw it at 3 different Best Buy physical stores in DFW, TX. It's definitely an American release.

If they show up in the U.S., they tend to be French Canadian releases. They probably have the same barcodes as the English-only releases, though.

I wonder did this replace the Glock packaging. I'm not sure if it was ever a limited edition or not, but maybe it finally went OOP, so this is gonna be the standard packaging to replace it.

The Glock packaging was a BB exclusive and went OOP a long time ago.

Well, I knew it was an exclusive but I wasn't sure about the OOP part because the Best Buy that I used to visit, before it closed, still had plenty of the Glock packaging versions laying around.

The only one I don't have is 'Resident Evil: Degeneration'. Does anyone know if its essential to the storyline?
