I saw the MAMA trailer this past weekend at the beginning of Looper. Looks pretty freaky to me

Couldn't they have chosen a better title?

The title is funny but the movie looks damn good. I will feel funny asking for a ticket to Mama though

. I guess it's at least something different rather than one of the many generic titles mainstream horror movies often have.

Other than expanding movies in January this is one of the wide releases I'm most interested in.

I wonder how this would have done had it been released Mother's Day weekend. Would have been a cool gimmicky release date. But it will actually probably perform better in January as horror usually seems to. Probably the best time to release a horror film outside of October. Plus Jessica Chastain will be "hot" at the moment being an Oscar contender and all.

I love Guillermo but I find that the only thing that ever really hints of him when he does these 'presents' flicks are some imagery and basic ideas which I suppose is the point and is totally my fault for expecting more him in it.

This expectation has got me in trouble previously with Don't Be Afraid of the Dark and The Orphanage prior to that. While I did enjoy both those films on some level I still feel that they could have been much better if they weren't simply 'presented' by him.

That being said I do appreciate these little side diversions still as they are introducing me to these new - at least to me - writers and directors who show promise. So, I will eagerly await to watch this film but with some newly adjusted thoughts on what to expect.

13 days away now. SUPER excited for this. There are only two reviews out and in the German media but both gave the film a 7/10. That has me even more anticipatory.
