I'm hearing nothing but rave reviews; nothing less than a 7/10, and "AngryJoe's Badass seal of approval". Lol. I work more, so if I miss this one like I did with a LOT of releases, I'll most definitely check it out Day one! Some people compared it to "The Raid", in the sense that they're fighting their way in a building. Just a wild comparison, or maybe holds true in some way? |

Day one for sure!
Pure fun, but also not mindless(same writer as 28 Days Later, Sunshine and Never Let Me Go). Loved the acting and writing, but really got a kick out of its over the top violence and 3D Slo-mo effects. Highly recommended. |

I'm interested in picking it up when the price is right. Good reviews for a film like this is encouraging.

Saw this a few nights ago, and it's EASILY in my top 5 of 2012. Day one buy, no questions asked. It's a real shame how poorly it's performing at the box office. I saw it at Cinebarre and there were only 2 other people in the theater. Dredd deserves so much more. I wish it was kicking the crap out of RE5, and sadly, with Looper out this weekend, it doesn't stand a chance.
To those of you on the fence on this one, JUST GO SEE IT! It's a fun, no B.S. action flick with a solid cast, strong performances (especially by Olivia Thirlby) and copious amounts of violence. I didn't even mind the 3D!

I'll be getting this....and the gf and I are going back again tonight to see it a 2nd time... I don't get the dreary turnout at the box office for this either.

"I'd buy that for a dollar!" - TV Show Host, Robocop What really happened to Farscape! |

Just saw this in 3D. Probably one of the most simple, straight-forward action movies I have ever seen. The 3D and slow motion (two things I usually hate) were actually used to great effect throughout the film. However, even at 95minutes, I felt that it could have been tightened up in a lot of places to increase suspense and tension. Also, I haven't read the comics, but some of Dredd's (very minimal) dialogue could have been a bit more creative.
Despite my (relatively minor) criticisms, Dredd 3D was very enjoyable overall and highly recommended for people that like their action films with a strong dose of blood and gore. 8/10 Last edited by PrestonXI; 10-04-2012 at 04:00 AM. |

this movie impressed the hell out of me - definitely day one purchase - I thought though Karl's acting of Dredd was a little weird at times, like he was channeling Clint Eastwood, Robocop and Batman all at the same time.

Dredd was really enjoyable. It reminded me of The Raid meets The Punisher: War Zone. I will definitely buy it, but not Day 1. |
