Holy smoke! Don't tell me this is the one produced by Oliver Stone?

If so, then I can't wait. One of the saddest movies ever, but brilliant, and a must have for me.
When are they going to release these movies on BD?:Crossroads (Walter Hill; Steve Vai),Fun with Dick and Jane (Jim Carrey, Tea Leoni), Man on the Moon (Jim Carrey), Alien Autopsy,Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys (Jodie Foster),Fierce Creatures (John Cleese, Eric Idle, J.L.Curtis)Housesitter(Steve Martin, Goldie Hawn),Bowfinger (Steve M.), Shopgirl (Steve M.),Out of Towners (Steve Martin),Spanglish,The Odd Couple 2 (Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau),Wallace and Gromit- The Curse of the Were-Rabbit,

I can't believe TJLC is finally coming to the greatest format home movies have ever known! Just saw this today and it made my day.

Completely oblivious, I literally was quoting lines from this movie yesterday, totally joking around of course - okay maybe half joking (and yes the tear that fell from my eye was part of the joke ) In resonant old chinese lady voice: "She will climb up the stairs to find me . . . She will be scared because at first her eyes will see nothing . . . She will feel this place in her heart where she hides her fears. She will know I am waiting LIKE A TIGER IN THE TREES! now ready to leap out and CUT HER SPIRIT LOOSE!" (now humming fiercely to mirror swelling orchestral score)

And I was thinking "My god, when is this epic awesome movie coming to Blu-ray?" And today God was like, "December 11th."

Glory hallelujah. I LOVE this movie. So many good lines. So sad, but in a perfect, bittersweet, true and ultimately uplifting life-affirming way. Half of life is sadness after all. I believe truly great art of a certain perspective, such as TJLC, beautifully illuminates the darker side of life. It shines a light into the twilight realm of change and loss, shows us lowly midnight with all its aching emptiness, and then carries us over to the other side, to a new dawn, a new day, to new growth, and hope amidst the pain. I dare say, it reminds us there's no need to run from it.

Great movie! Too bad they didn't finally take the opportunity to change that awful cover art, which makes it look like it's about a San Francisco singles mixer. With ol Rich front and center and none of the moms.

"Waverley takes best food because she is worst quality person! You take worst food because you are best quality person!"

Such a great movie! But yeah that cover is kind of weak.

I bought a copy earlier this week. I'll try to watch it before the end of winter break, but I have so many movies to watch that it's going to be tough to fit into my schedule.

I hazily remember watching this in the theater with my (chinese) family years ago. The reaction was (ahem) sharply divided among gender lines, lol. Us guys got the impression that the novel must've been written by a very angry and bitter chinese lady.
It might help for you to understand her background as well as her family's history.

14.49 at Target.com right now. I just ordered a copy. With RedCard it just ended up at 14.73 for me with free shipping.

My Chinese ex-girlfriend back in college talked me into watching this one so that I'll learn more about their culture. Now every time I see this on cable, I can't help but be reminded of her.
