Dang, I was hoping to just grab Beyond Thunderdome and be done with it.
Well, if all the movies get remastered or something, and come with a bunch more extras, I wouldn't mind double-dipping on the first two films.

Hopefully Road Warrior will now have lossless audio.

Too good to be true.
I want: 1- a fresh 4k remaster of Mad Max 1. Despite it's the inferior movie of the series, I love it nonetheless. 2- loseless audio for Mad Max 2. 3- of course, Mad Max 3, the best of the best. |

Awesome news! After seeing the Terminator Anthology they put together I was hoping they would put together a collection for this as well. I'm still waiting for full blown special editions for The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome. Either way, I'm super stoked about this and this will be a day 1 purchase for me.

Should this new Mad Max 1 BD be culled from a master from Warner, and not the regular MGM master we already know?
Or maybe, Warner did a 4k scan of Mad Max 1 years ago, and that master was used by MGM for his 2010 Mad Max release. |

These movies really need some extras, especially Road Warrrior. It was supposed to get the Two-Disc SE treatment on DVD before Blu-ray was officially introduced but it never happened. The original film was fully loaded, though but some input from Mel could be added for a fully satisfactory release. Warner will probably skimp on Beyond Thunderdome on the misguided notion that it's the lesser of the trilogy (it's not, IMO) and as such doesn't need an SE. I'm hoping I'm wrong and the set will be a true Special Edition and not just another reissue.
