3 Stooges/ Little Rascals Blu- Ray confusion.

On September 30, Legend films will release these. Blu Ray.com lists these as both being a blu ray/ blu ray 3d combo. But on amazon its listed as blu ray 3d only. Which is it? I dont want to order if its 3d only, as im not 3d compatible yet.

Sounds like it will be 4 versions on 1 or 2 disc. B&W 2D/3D and COLOR 2D/3D

Where do you see this? Amazon shows only 3d version.

The Best of the Little Rascals 3D blu-ray will not contain a 2D version.

I wanted to share what Jamie at Legend Films advised me -
that the 3D Blu-ray will not include a 2D version.
Hope this helps you decide to buy or not to buy.

Considering that majority of people have a 3D player, this shouldn't be a problem.

I wouldn't have thought this was the case... hell, I bet most people are still stuck on DVD

And a 3D player is not enough, it needs to be connected to a 3DTV in order to be able to display anything other than an error message when you try to play 3D content.

AFAIK, you can't use a 3D player to play 3D content (in 2D) on a regular TV (at least not with the PS3).

I don't have a 3D player, and don't plan to. I hate it.

Nope.

If it's 3D content it won't play on anything but a 3DTV.

Perhaps some players have an built-in option to force everything to 2D, then it may work, however I could not find such a setting on the PS3, not sure about standalone players though....

nope, IT ONLY CONTAINS A 3-D version, I would love tpo have had these had the had the normal 2d version

Well, whatever. Most people have a 3D player and 3D TV, so like I said, it shouldn't be a problem. It's only a problem for me because I'm always behind on the times. But most people today have no issue keeping up with today's technology...

According to the linked article from last month only 2% of TVs in the U.S. are able to show 3D programming. The percentage is likely higher on a site like this, but it's still the far minority of people.

That's strange. Because statistics show that "The Avengers" 3D version sold better than the 2D only version. So, either that article you linked is incorrect or people are silly enough to buy the 3D version without owning a 3D setup.

The 3D Avengers sold better because of Target...

They offered the Target exclusive 5 Disc and regular 4 Disc 3D combo packs for $20 due to an ad error. It was the same price as the exclusive 3 Disc and regular 2 disc sets, so consumers chose the better value option even if they didn't have 3D equipment. This was not silly, it was common economic sense.

What you call "silly", I call forward thinking! I don't have a 3D setup yet, but I probably already own 30 or 40 3D releases because I know I will be going to 3D soon, so instead of double-dipping, I've been getting the 3D versions. Just like I was buying BD+DVD combo sets long before I had a blu-ray player so I wouldn't have to double-dip there either. So I don't think people buying 3D versions before they have a 3D setup is silly, I think it is down right smart!

All 3D blu-rays have 2D version in it.
