also i find it kinda odd that anchorbay is rereleasing the original first 2 films on the long OOP double feature dvd.It will be 2 discs and not a flipper disc dvd but not blu-ray???? Heck they released I spit on your grave original and remake on blu and more recently Mother's day original and remake but not SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT???

It doesn't make sense, I want a blu ray of the first 2 films too.

Is it up for order yet?

I had no idea there was a remake coming out. This was one of those movies that I saw when I was way too young and it really freaked me out.

I find the lack of a Blu-ray releasing quite sad.

Looking forward to this. According to his Facebook while filming, Steven C. Miller, the director, seemed to be a fan himself of the original(s). So I am definitely looking to see this.

So glad they're remaking this. Because now they can go ahead and reuse half of the remake's footage in the remake of Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2! Garbage Day!

A Blu-ray would've been nice, but a re-issue of the Silent Night, Deadly Night double-feature DVD is more than enough to make me happy.

Ugh! This sounds terrible! I wouldn't have minded a remake of this, but it doesn't sound very good. I really hope they stick with the backstory of the kid's parents being killed by a guy dressed up like Santa Claus and all. If not, it will just be some random movie with a killer Santa Claus.

This is a very low budget remake, compared to alot of others. Why much hasn't been said about it.

I pre-ordered the remake Blu Ray even though I really don't have a good feeling about it (why is there no trailer yet?). I also couldn't resist Anchor Bay's re-release of the double feature DVD of Silent Night, Deadly Night and the ridiculous "sequel" (aka clips from the first one with minimal, but hilariously overacted, connecting scenes).

For better or worse, I love this stuff.

The DVD of the original film is from two different sources. Most of the film looks great, but the uncut footage is of extremely lesser-quality (possibly sourced from a VHS). The transition is pretty jarring on the DVD. It's similar to the uncut My Bloody Valentine (which did make it to blu-ray).

But if I had to guess, this is why it isn't being released on blu-ray. There probably isn't an uncut HD master available to them. They'd probably be under scrutiny for the quality of the uncut footage.

The sequel looks great on DVD, so there's probably an HD master for that one. However, I doubt the sequel would warrant it's own stand-alone blu-ray release.

I wouldn't have minded a remake of this, but it doesn't sound very good. I really hope they stick with the backstory of the kid's parents being killed by a guy dressed up like Santa Claus and all.
