Mulan / Mulan II Blu-ray Review

According to a DVDizzy member Mulan has finally been officially confirmed for Spring 2013 in the insert from Prep and Landing. Apparently it will be bundled with Mulan II.

Mulan II is actually one of the better direct-to-video sequels. My daughter loves it, and I think it's pretty fun too.

Yeah, but that also means the cross-dressing, Wile E. Coyote Batman ending is going to be in HD. I was digging Mulan, right up until they wimped out and went for the comic ending.

Yeah, I admit that while the comedy in Mulan is actually pretty funny, it doesn't mesh well with the drama. Seeing as I prefer the dramatic aspects of the film (everything from "Reflection" to "Mulan's Decision" is absolutely perfect), that keeps it from being one of my favorites. I still really enjoy it and look forward to owning it, especially after just winning The Art of Mulan limited edition book off eBay last week. Chances are Mulan's supplements will be relegated to the dreaded Virtual Vault due to the sequel being included, so I'll have to toss out the included DVDs and stick my 2-disc set of the original film in there like I did with Pocahontas. This probably doesn't bode well for Hunchback's missing LD supplements, either.

I hear you, and concur. Like Pocahontas, I walked out of the theater feeling frustrated.

Haven't seen this since I was a little kid.
Shame that it's being bundled with Mulan II. I don't know, it just seems sort of disrespectful to bundle films with their DTV sequels.

I disagree. I think it's fine. However, I probably wouldnt feature it on the cover like they did with Pocahontas, though. The DTV sequels should be considered just extra features.

plus, really, Mulan II was a decent flick!

Just watched Mulan 2 last week, thought some plot points were alright, thought I'm bugged that Mushu was a jerk instead of a good person at heart.

But I'm excited to own Mulan 1/2 on Blu, now if Disney will release Hercules and Notre Dame on Blu I'll be happy, just hope that Hercules has some actual bonuses, I think the gold collection only had the trailer and a short "Making Of" featurette.

Other countries are getting Hercules and Hunchback in december, and Don Hahn has seen the US artwork along with Atlantis and confirms that they are coming next year with the sequels.
